for now we're live in maspeth, kemberly richardson, eyewitness news. >>> the family of one of the men killed in a hit and run in brooklyn is calling for the driver to turn himself in. israel tercios and delmar maldonado were struck. car hit the two men along with two parked cars before he took off on foot. >> he should really turn himself in. you know you did something. and you need to pay or whatever. i love my dad and he's no longer with us. >> the victims were walking home from a nearby bar when they were struck. police believe the driver was a teenager when he was speeding. >>> a new york assemblyman from the bronx is accusing the nypd he was trying to calm a tense situation between cops and residents when he was roughed up by an officer. michelle charlesworth is in the claremont village section of the bronx with the story. >> this new york state assemblyman said he had just finished talking to people saturday afternoon about an alleged excessive police force incident that apparently happened about nine days ago. what happened to him lasted all of 15 seconds but he'll remember it

eye witness news reporter kemberly richardson is in how do you beach this afternoon with more. >> reporter: just a few minutes ago we watched cathy came to the command center and stopped and talked with detectives back there, they stayed for a few minutes and drove away. the meeting is at 7:00, nearby continue out here until an arrest is made. day 7 of the investigation in to a murder that has rocked this tight knit community in howard beach. detectives are working around the clock to track down whoever killed karina vetrano. her parents once again, met with detectives at the command post, no doubt getting briefed on where things stand. the wood was found inside was found inside spring creek park. the suspect strangled, severely beat and murdered the woman. the father, a retired firefighter, praised police for their work in this case. >> justice will be served, that's why we have the pd, and god, justice will be served. who ruthlessly, with zero regard for life snatched her daughter away. >> i'm here to remind you, in case you don't already know, that now it is the whole entire world again

. >> eyewitness news reporter kemberly richardson just got an update from police and joins us live from the maspeth section. >> you'll hear from them in a second. this suspect may have gotten away with this, burglarizing someone's home, but ultimately it was a nanny cam that did him in. the homeowner at work spotting the thief inside her home and phone video. this was taken about three hours ago. by now, police had surrounded a home on 66th street. one officer had gone inside. seconds later you hear a single shot right there and see the suspect wearing gloves, running from that home. you hear screams and the officers chased the man who was hit with one bullet in the groin. he's at the hospital. the suspect is 38 years old and linked to several home queens. the homeowner did go back inside to get her dog. she was worried. she made it out okay. police briefed us. take a listen to what they had to say. >> a struggle ensued, which one shot was discarded. discharged by service weapon. this was a close quarters encounter. these two fought at one point near the rear of the apartment. the male
