>>reporter: good morning, ken. it was a very large and active situation. although within the last 30 minutes or so we've noticed firefighters beginning to leave that would seem to indicate they have a handle on the situation. now, this is all happening on 59th street between 9th and 10th avenue. we understand around 2:00 this morning police say a person jumped from a neighboring high rise building and landed on a pressure oxygen tank line outside roosevelt hospital. that line was severed and that caused a leak which triggered a large-scale hazmat response. now, we're told the hospital did lose oxygen temporarily, but quickly transitioned to portable oxygen to make sure those patients who needed oxygen would be covered. meanwhile, a private vendor has now arrived and is in the process of repairing first shutting down the leak, and then repairing the leak. we're told the repair could end up being an all-day operation. the hospital was not evacuated, although some patients were relocated to other areas of the hospital
