ken burns as he said in his documentary they are america's best idea. and anybody who have been to yellowstone, glacier, yosemite are going to agree with that. but those national parks were invented and created with this fantasy and nostalgia that we have been talking about in mind. the national parks were not empty wilderness areas when there were created, they were areas where native people lived, hunted, fished, worked, etc. but the national park service, or the federal government, before the park service was created after world war i, created those parks and removed indian people. now we go yes preserving that land brilliant idea, but removing the indian people to use it, not such a good idea. right now you can google and look around, see that the national park service is trying very hard to develop new ways to work with native people as comanagers, partners, providers of traditional ecological knowledge that will allow for better park management. there we see the federal government reckoning very directly with the mistake they made when these parks

ken burns cocky is one of those public t.v. people.rganization around. it was just fantastic. it goes back 100 and something years. but just to show how bad the discrimination was for your parents and grandparents. it was. nobody in the room denies it. and in 1979, it was the first black doctor hired by the mayo clinic which is really amazing when this is considered like the premier medical institution may be in the world. but that is just the way it was. it was tragic. especially, if you are a person of color. that is why we have these four different organizations, the asian and latino. it is understandable. this fire department, not to me, this fire department before me and continuing it, has bent over backwards to try and correct the problems that blacks, in particular in this country have faced with discrimination. not just this department, but i'm talking about the mayo clinic. i mean, you go back to jackie robinson and you think that all those years later, the organization like that would have had a black surgeon. i am not critic

(grant)and im grant lodes in for pam moore. the branscombe fire has burnedhan four thousand acres tonight in suisun city and is 80% contained.kron 4's ella sogomonian is live on grizzly island road where she met with the man who lost his home but is lucky to be alive. the branscombe fire burning in southern solano county has burned 4,700 acres and is 70 percent contained as of early this morning, according to solano county sheriff's office dispatch. the blaze had burned two buildings, including a house, according to social media reports on sunday night. the fire is named for a rural road east of suisun city along state highway 12 near where the blaze started. it was first reported about 11 a.m. sunday. the suisun fire protection district, based in fairfield, is the lead agency fighting the fire. crews from cal fire, suisun city, montezuma, benicia, american canyon, vallejo and travis air force base are also fighting the blaze with trucks and water tenders as well as helicopters and airplanes. efforts to reach a spokesman from the suisun fire protection distr

ken... we talked with the wife of a man who was injured in this fire... she told us he suffered from burns of over 45- percent of his body. the home is a compelte loss. the fire started inside of the home at about 2 this morning. three adults were inside the home and they were all able to get out. emergency responders tried to airlift the man injured to the hospital... but it was too difficult because of the fog. he ended up being taken to the hospital by abulance. we talked to his wife about why he went back inside the home after they had gotten out. <"we got out in time, but he returned downstairs to where the fire was more high to save the dogs... and he saved the dogs, but now he's not doing good right now."> at this point we do not know how the fire started.
