the texas attorney general ken paxton said the ruling, quote, flies in the face of basic human decency>>> the trump administration may use a new maneuver to try to negotiate better trade deals. make the trade deficit look worse than it actually is. this change would center around so-called reexports according to a "wall street journal" report. now, those are products assembled in the u.s. and made from parts that have been brought into the country like cars and machinery. if those exports are removed from the trade balance the deficit would skyrocket. that could president trump a better bargaining chip. the total trade deficit in 2016, $502 billion. meaning the u.s. imports much more in goods and services than it exports. by country the biggest trade deficit is with china with $347 billion. and japan, germany and mexico around $60 billion. we haven't heard the president talk much about germany. the rest are the lists are frequent targets. >>> we want to give you a friendly reminders. you see the sticker on your screen, eight different members want to leave the democratic national commi

in texas, the attorney general ken paxton filed documents with the san francisco based 9th u.s. circuit court of appeals asking the court to reconsider its decision not to immediately reinstate the ban. texas congressman henry qualar joins me now. you say the ban does not make us safe. you're against it. your state though looking to keep it in place where you are. your thoughts on that? >> well, you know, first of all, when there was a vote to have more vetting of the congressman michael mccall had last ye supported that. i want to see people that are coming into the united states that, if they're bad people, we want to keep them out. but at the same time, if there are people who are legitimate traders or commerce or tourism, we want to let them in. the only issue that i have with the ban, i think they should have involved congress. with all this delayed court proceedings, i think congress would have been able to pass a piece of legislation, maybe even look at what michael mccall had last year as a starting point. >> melissa: i can feel people in the audience saying that congres
