we had ken paxton, the attorney general of texas on earlier. and he personally is taking another shot at completely undoing obamacare. he and texas are leading a 20-state lawsuit against it and he feels very passionately about this and said this. >> the original case was interestingly decided. the individual mandate where congress ordered people to buy health insurance. roberts took into account the penalty, and called that a tax and basically allowed this to stay in place because of the taxing authority of congress. well now with the new act by congress on tax reform in december, that penalty was eliminated so there is really no basis to allow obamacare to stay in place. we're very, very excited and think we have a good chance of eliminating obamacare once and for all. >> sandra: he says he feels that he and his state and the other 19 states doing this with them believe the health law is no longer constitutional and they have a strong case. >> look, this attorney general from texas has filed multiple lawsuits against obamacare since he has bee

i want to bring in ken paxton. so if the daca program still exists in june, you would consider filing suit to eliminate the program. your state has the second highest number of daca recipients in the country, so would you file a suit to eliminate the program if congress reaches a deal and finances a deal to renew the program? >> not if they reached a deal. my relationship to this is not policy related, it's about making sure the rule of law in the constitution is followed. >> so the president's recommendation is the daca program would be reshaped a bit, there would be a path to citizenship. there would also be, in the president's proposal, funding for a wall. are you on board with that? >> so, again, as the chief law enforcement office in texas, what we care about is safety of our citizens. yes, we have wanted border security for years and years, including something like a wall, using technology to protect us, more border agents and allowing the border agents to do the job. it's up to congress to fashion exactly ho

joining me is texas attorney general ken paxton. what are you seeing in your state?> there's no doubt texas is struggling with workers. we have a very fast growing economy that's largely due to low taxes, great regulation environment, good court system and lot of hard working people. so it's definitely an issue. >> sandra: how would you like to see this immigration battle play out? >> so, what i want to say first, i'm just grateful that it's playing out the way it's supposed to, which is congress is going to decide this as opposed to what we were dealing with for the last eight years where we had a president dictate what the law would be. this is great for america that the debate is happening between nancy pelosi and speaker ryan and the people it's supposed to happen with. >> sandra: how do the people in your state feel about the wall? >> about the wall? >> sandra: yes. >> i think, look, we have a huge issue in the state of texas. border security is an issue that my state's been concerned about for a long time. our state police keep track of statistics. we've had ov

joining me now texas attorney general ken paxton. thank you for joining us this morning.sue you have put a lot of thought into. what needs to happen looking at our president who has got a bunch of options he is putting on the table. he is willing to enact some change. what do you see that needs to be done to secure our nation's children? >> first of all let me say i applaud the president for having this conversation. we've lost too many kids already and so this is definitely a conversation that needs to continue and happen. you know, somebody that's willing to kill somebody and violate murder laws won't change their behavior because we've changed regulation. we need to have armed policemen or law enforcement at our schools or at least train people, teachers, to have the ability to defend so if this happens, we have the opportunity to stop the killing. >> sandra: you know, the president is exploring banning these bump stocks. a huge conversation after las vegas back in october. he is talking about tougher background checks, raising the required age to buy a gun. you are lo
