ktvu's ken pritchett is live and shows us what happened this afternoon and what is going on right nowken? >> reporter: we had the heavy rain yesterday but this tree, that 70-footer, that came down at 2:20 this afternoon. you can see the roots that are exposed after the tree toppled over. the tree crews cleared off the canopy but you can see the tarps where there are holes in the roof. while it is not just been a busy day for tree clearing crews. the one tree led to a fatal accident this morning. >> reporter: from the front of this home it is hard to see the size of the tree but from the backyard it is clear on this slope, the 70-foot pine had nowhere else to go but down. crews were busy today. this was their second downed tree. >> the water and moisture on the tree makes the tree heavy and the wind blowing on it. >> reporter: what was a jube opportunity for crews and an in- - job opportunity for crews and an inconvenience for homeowners was more serious in oakland. a tree fell on the highway a car smash into the tree. they were okay but they left to car to seek shelter on the road. >>
