ken smith is live with how technology participated in these crimes. reporter: this neighborhood is not unlike any others, cars parked along the sides or in the driveway. some residents in one neighborhood had a series of breaks in. it's -- suspected thieves are using keyless devices to break the series of breaks in happened in raleigh. the police confirm six reports of car breaks in in this neighborhood, at least one car was stolen. we talked with neighbors who tell us the suspected thieves actually targeted as many as 15 cars, but here's what's strange. most residents who were victims of the break-ins say that cars were looked and the windows were not broken. neighbors believe available technology allows thieves to use universal key fobs, similar to the ones you see here, that can open several cars at one time. someone can amplify the signal that overrides the locks. the same is true for garage door openers. one neighbor we spoke with says he and his fellow residents are still perplexed by the break- ins. >> that was a little unnerving for all of us.
