good evening, i'm ken wayne. >> and hello again, everyone, i'm heather holmes. we are watching traffic on illustrate -- on the bay bridge where construction is about to begin. crews are ready to shift eastbound traffic approaching oakland on to a new detour. that's where eric rasmussen is now live and, eric, there will be delays tonight? >> reporter: there certainly will be heather. i just talked to our contact here at the bay bridge about four minutes ago. crews are actually delayed. might not start for another hour or so because of all of the rain we had earlier today. we would like to switch our truck to a second camera we have to give you a sort of bird' eye view of the eastbound traffic. if you see us blowing around the camera is blowing around there. however, we can tell you they will be shutting down some lanes overnight tonight to shift this traffic on to the new detour. and that's, of course, to make room for the crews that are working on a new part of the bay bridge. shifting traffic on the bay bridge is no easy task, not even late on a saturday night.
