i am ken wayne. >> i am maureen naylor. >> in an hour a church is set to hold its first services since a shooting on christmas eve. a mother attending the service was wounded shielding her children. ktvu's eric rasmussen talked to her today about what doctors are saying. >> reporter: it was a close call but she is expected to make a full recovery. this woman felt no pain when she was shot. we talked to her in the hospital. she was among 100 people who were at that christmas eve service when several butts came through the -- bullets came through the walls. her first instinct was to protect her children. [ speaking foreign language ] >> reporter: in spanish she said when i saw the bullet i threw myself over them so it might hit me and not them. she showed us where she was shot. doctors told her the doctors narrowly missed her heart. after three surgeries she is doing well and thanks god she is alive. police say a 17-year-old was also shot outside the church. he is expected to make a full recovery. police are still looking for the shooters and the church does not appear to be the target.

good eving i'm ken wayne. >> and i'm julie haener. it was not the outcome rescuers were hoping for. eric rasmussen is live with the warning for those in the area. >> reporter: that warning is to be very careful in these conditions. the marin county coroner's office is not identifying these victims until their families are notified. however in the last few minutes i did speak to southern marin fire. it confirms these men and a boy were standing on some rocks when they were swept away by a wave when they were fishing just beyond the golden gate. chopper2 had our first view of the scene as boats with the coast guard responded to a 911 call of two people swept out to sea. but officials later delivered the news no one wanted to hear. >> rescue recovered two bodies one male adult and one child. those suspects were later pronounced deceased. >> reporter: the waves do go real high. >> reporter: rescuers led us down this steep side. >> i don't know if it was the high tide that caused the accident. we're trying to get information out to the public, know your tides, know your limits and go out

good evening i'm ken wayne. >> and i'm julie haener. it is a meningitis outbreak but it's not happening here. still the health center takes it serious enough to issue a warning. >> reporter: they say an unusually high number of meningitis cases have been reported until the brooklyn area and it's affecting gay men. san francisco may be thousands of miles from the big apple but health officials here worry that a quick plane ride might land bay area travelers right in the heart of meningitis outbreak in new york city. >> we know there's lots of travel between the two cities. >> reporter: dr. susan phillips is with the san francisco health department. she says new york has had 16 cases of menengococal disease. the cases involve men in areas of brooklyn who are have had intimate contact with other men. >> it's due to a bacterium and it is passed by a very close personal contacts. secretions of any kind including saliva. >> reporter: gay men traveling to new york should get a vaccine if they have planning to have sex with men there. >> men wh

good eving i'm ken wayne. >> and i'm julie haener. it was not the outcome rescuers were hoping for. eric rasmussen is live with the warning for those in the area. >> reporter: that warning is to be very careful in these conditions. the marin county coroner's office is not identifying these victims until their families are notified. however in the last few minutes i did speak to southern marin fire. it confirms these men and a boy were standing on some rocks when they were swept away by a wave when they were fishing just beyond the golden gate. chopper2 had our first view of the scene as boats with the coast guard responded to a 911 call of two people swept out to sea. but officials later delivered the news no one wanted to hear. >> rescue recovered two bodies one male adult and one child. those suspects were later pronounced deceased. >> reporter: the waves do go real high. >> reporter: rescuers led us down this steep side. >> i don't know if it was the high tide that caused the accident. we're trying to get information out to the public, know your tides, know your limits and go out
