i'm ken wayne live in downtown napa.as you can see behind me, it looks like for some businesses it's going to be a very long difficult road back to get their doors open again if they can ever do that. but meantime, in some locations just a few feet away from a building that has been red tagged, it's business as usual. we went to one of businesses here in downtown -- one of those businesses here in downtown napa tonight. those businesses are thriving. some customers said they stoped in after taking in the races. they were curious to see how downtown napa looked after this quake. others are napa residents who said they were taking a much needed time out from the stress of cleaning up quick related damage. >> we're just taking a break from sweeping up the glass and vacuuming and getting all the plates and crystal and china and everything back into the cabinets tonight. >> one thing you will note in the back of the restaurant in the kitchen is the clock which is stopped at 3:20. that of course is the time the quake hit this

ken wayne is live at the scene. ken, what can you tell us? >> reporter: well, this is still a very active crime scene. you can see behind me police officers have taped off the entrance to the east side of the mall. this is next to the fresh choice and one of the macy's entrances to bayfair mall. this all started within the past hour with some kind of altercation between two groups inside the mall that spilled out into the parking lot. two men confronted two other men, gunshots were fired, and two victims started running. we understand one victim was shot in the leg. we talked to some people who were outside of the mall, heard the gunshots. we talked to a very young shopper. here's what she described happened. >> we've seen the two victims one was dark skinned and the light skinned one, he ran over here and then he -- he ran like dashing through here. he got shot. he was yelling help, help, i got shot. i got shot. and then he was on the phone, the other guy, he came running back for his friend. he was trying to get help. and he was lifted into

beginning with ktvu's ken wayne from downtown napa. one of the areas hardest hit. ken? >> reporter: well, there is damage across the city of napa, across the county of napa and beyond from this earthquake. behind me, this is the square office building at second and brown in downtown napa. you can see the roof is askew, the exterior ball is knocked out, bricks tumbled to the street. you can see all the breaks on the sidewalks. it is fortunate this happened at 3:20 a.m. in the morning and not in the middle of the day when a lot of pedestrians would have been out here. we want to show you pictures earlier today in the after math of the earthquake. showing the damage around the city of napa. i talked to an officer, as they drove around they saw a lot of damage a lot of homes knocked off their foundation. what particularly surprised them was the number of garages where they were knocked sideways and in some cases we saw a car that had been knocked out of the garage and drifted out into the driveway. in addition to the buildings that were damaged there is lot of road damage e
