. >> and i'm kenny choi. >>> new this morning, the search on for a shooter in hayward. it happened on the freeway and now police don't have much to go off of to try to find the suspect. kpix5's jessica flores is live in hayward with the very latest. jessica. >> reporter: kenny, there have been dozens of freeway shootings. now, this one here along 880 behind me, the car was going southbound and chp says this all went down just before 10:00 p.m. yesterday. chp says that toyota tacoma, gray toyota tacoma was driving southbound getting off the freeway when someone in another car started shooting into the truck. two people in that tacoma were shot. according to chp their injuries are nonlife threatening. chp says they don't have a suspect at this time. >> the tacoma ran off the road after the incident. the suspect vehicle continued on. at this time it's unknown what the suspect vehicle is or who the suspects are. >> reporter: this isn't the only area that's been affected with shootings. chp says bay area freeways have been plagued with gang-related shootings in the last year

. >> and i'm kenny choi.ust into the newsroom right now, we now know that a shooting in south san francisco involved a police officer. we are told that a suspect was shot and killed. jackie ward is live on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: this all started just before midnight when south san francisco police were called to a home on the 3700 block of cork place. you can see behind me that there's still a very heavy police presence here. the person who called 911 kept mentioning a firearm. when officers arrived they were confronted by a man in the street with a shotgun. police say officers told him to drop the weapon several times. he did not. shots were fired and the man was killed. one officer had minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. no one else was hurt. the neighborhood has been deemed safe. so right now a joint investigation with the san mateo county sheriff's office and the south san francisco police department is happening and we hope to learn more details coming up. back to you. >> thank

i'm kenny choi. >> i'm michelle griego. time now is 6:30.5's jackie ward is live to tell us why the changes could be put on hold. jackie. >> reporter: good morning. so these plans to improve the sausalito ferry terminal has been in the works for years but the city is fighting against them because they claim the golden gate bridge district is violating an agreement that they made decades ago. ago. the golden gate highway and transportation bridge district says that they need to improve the aging sausalito terminal in order to keep up with federal rules for accessibility and plans proposed back in 2014, designs for flatter wider ramps and a better boarding system to ease congestion. sausalito filed a lawsuit alleging they tried to circumvent the environmental quality act by withdrawing city consent on the project. sausalito says per a lease agreement written in 1995, the district must get plans approved by the city before making any major alterations. despite all of that, though, the district is still trying to push its plan through. they are

i'm kenny choi. >> i'm michelle griego. time now is 6:30.x 5's sandra osborne is live in san jose where the trial has been going on for three months. >> reporter: three long months of witness testimony. those closing arguments expected to begin at 9:00 this morning before the jurors will begin deliberations. 26-year-old antolin garcia- torres who could face the death penalty is accused of murdering 15-year-old sierra lamar in 2012. her body was never found. cameras have not been allowed inside the courtroom for the trial. we have video from previous hearings and courtroom sketches. the main focus for the prosecution throughout the trial is other physical key evidence including dna found in garcia-torres's car and on lamar's clothing found in a field near her home outside morgan hill. garcia-torres has two children and has been in custody since 2012. by the way he is also accused of attempting to kidnap three other women back in 2009. he pled not guilty to all charges. closing arguments set to begin at 9:00 this morning but if you are wonderi

. >> i'm kenny choi.eport suggests several courthouses in the bay area could see pose a serious danger to people if a massive quake strikes. kpix 5's jessica flores is live in oakland with the details. jessica. >> reporter: kenny, nine bay area courthouses would be unsafe during an earthquake and one of those is right behind me. the alameda county administration building actually has two civil courts on the 3rd and 4th floors. it's ranked the second worst in the state. the worst is actually in southern california. in glendale. the state report found 56 california trial court buildings pose a risk to human and building safety in the event of an earthquake. the report gives lawmakers recommendations as to which courthouses urge gently need funding for retrofitting. the cost of doing the 12 highest building would be $320 million. this is at a time when the state already lost about $1.4 billion in court construction funds. so other high risk court buildings in the bay area include the sonoma county hall of ju

i'm kenny choi. >> i'm michelle griego. time now is 6:30.5's jackie ward is in the newsroom with the latest on this bombshell report. jackie. >> reporter: cbs news has learned that president trump allegedly tried to pressure former fbi director james comey to drop his investigation into fired national security adviser michael flynn. the "new york times" first reported the story saying comey wrote a memo about his february meeting where the president allegedly asked him to, quote, let go of the flynn investigation because flynn was a good guy. the meeting came one day after mr. trump fired flynn for lying to the vice president about his contacts with russian diplomats. >> we don't want to jump to conclusions here. if there is a memo, how he describes the conversation will determine whether the president is on one side or the other side of the line of obstruction of justice. >> a possible impeachment is not a quick fix though. this process could take years. it's unclear whether president trump did this. local representative eric swalwell said:

. >> i'm kenny choi. >>> later this morning investigators will be at the new water park in dublin.hey are trying to figure out how a little boy flew off one of the slides. kpix5's jessica flores is live outside the wave with the latest. jessica. >> reporter: kenny, the wave water park here in dublin just opened. it was the grand opening on saturday. a lot of folks were trying to ride all the slides here and one of them was a 10-year-old little boy. he climbed that slide behind me, went down and then when he reached the bottom, the landing area, that's when he fell off. now, that slide is called the emerald plunge. he fell off at the edge of the slide. the ground was 2 feet below. the boy was able to walk away with scrapes and his parents had to take him to the hospital to get checked out. the city of dublin owns and operates the park and after the accident they closed the emerald plunge, they also closed another slide citing safety. the city says the emerald plunge slide can be found around the world. >> and until we can, you know, resolve what occurred, the slides will remain clos
