good afternoon, i'm kenny choi. >> and i'm michelle griego. anne makovec is live with what we just learned from investigators. anne? >> reporter: they have made an arrest for the person that they believe started the bear fire. it is the same man that they had previously arrested for looting in the fire zone. here is his picture. he is now facing six counts of arson including enhancement for injuring firefighters in the process. 54-year-old marlon coy who actually lived near the fire zone. sheriff's officers say he had a dispute with some people who lived on diane way, which is where the fire started on october 16th. and investigators say that there were three other people who were with him at the time that he started the fires who identified him as the arsonist. >> all of those men told us that while they were there with marlon coy in the bolder creek area below 475 diane way, they witnessed him lighting this fire, spread, and then became bigger and caused what we are now calling the bear fire. >> reporter: the bear fire burned 400 acres near

i'm kenny choi. >> i'm michelle griego.ime now is 6:30. >>> first let's take a live look outside on this friday morning. take a look at the conditions out there. 880 in oakland, traffic moving along. and on the left, we have a shot of the bay bridge. mr. brian hackney is here for weather. >> mr. kenny choi, yes indeed! it's going to be a nice afternoon and good weekend. next week, maybe toward the end of the week, might be talking about that four-letter word, rain! we'll see. in the meantime, sunshine and the numbers not bad this morning. we have readings mostly in the mid-50s for the bay area to start out friday morning. and the rest of the day doesn't look bad, either. we'll be hitting near 90 degrees inland. around the bay will be near 80. at the shoreline low 70s. a few problems out there this morning with air and with the beach. we'll talk about that in the forecast but first let's see if there's problems on the road ahead. >> if you are heading over to the golden gate bridge, "karl the fog" will be riding shotgun with

i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm kenny choi. firefighters could have the north bay wildfires contained by tomorrow. but in the santa cruz mountains, the battle is far from over. the bear fire started monday night on bear creek road near highway 9. seven firefighters have now been hurt. 300 acres burned. it's only 15% contained this morning. the bear fire has destroyed four structures. cal fire captain says the santa cruz mountains are posing a challenge to the crews. >> very steep terrain, very loose footing, very dangerous hazardous conditions. >> officials say that they have made some progress. several evacuation centers are also open in los gatos and felton. those are the evacuation centers. >>> cal fire says it has now halted the progress of all wildfires in sonoma and napa counties. among them, the tubbs fire. 91% contained. the atlas fire 83% contained. and there is 80% containment of the nuns fire. the clean-up of toxic waste is now a priority for many people in the wildfire areas. jessica flores joins us live from santa

i'm kenny choi. >> i'm michelle griego.now is 6:30. >>> the bear fire broke out monday night along bear creek road near highway nine. kpix 5's anne makovec is live in santa cruz county with the latest. >> reporter: the weather has been working in firefighters' favor overnight for that so that's good news. cool temperatures here low winds relatively high humidity. so hopefully we'll have some updated numbers on containment this morning. but this fire broke out late monday night and is raging. it started when a building caught fire near bear canyon road and deer creek road in boulder creek. it's burned 300 acres. it's 15% contained. four homes have burned. it is burning in steep, rugged terrain. very dangerous for firefighters. in fact, seven have been injured trying to fight this bear fire including burn injuries and broken bones. 150 homes under evacuation orders right now in the communities of las cumbres, deer creek and along bear creek road. evacuations centers are set up at lakeside elementary school in los gatos and th
