i'm michelle griego. >> i'm kenny choi. a killer is on the loose in oakland after stabbing two people. jessica flores is live with the latest for us this morning. jessica? >> reporter: macarthur bart station is back open, trains in service here this morning. this is where the deadly stabbing happened, two young women stabbed. bart says this was totally random. it happened about 9:45 p.m. last night and the station was closed as police investigated. one woman died, the other in the hospital. police are still searching for the suspect, described as a white man in his 20s or 30s with short hair and a heavy build. officials say it happened as the train doors were opening and the women were getting off the train. then the suspect attacked, then ran down the stairs and took off. the victims' identities have not been released but officials this morning say the system is safe. >> the situation on bart isn't any different this morning than it is any morning. we feel it's a safe system. we have a professional police force that's watc

i'm michelle griego. >> i'm kenny choi. the dramatic cave rescue in thailand has come to an end. >> it's the news everyone was hoping for, the third and final rescue mission over, and it was a massive success. after 17 days of being stranded in a cave, all 12 boys and their coach are out safely. today was the third day of rescue and officials expected it to be the longest. they were also optimistic they could get everyone out. conditions inside the cave were difficult, water constantly being pumped out. but it was still a 2 and a half mile journey from where the boys were stuck to freedom. there was a pinch point, where it's only 15 inches across, and the boys had to separate from the divers to fit through and reach a small patch of drive land before going back down into the water. everyone is in the hospital with minimal contact with the outside world. parents have been allowed to see the boys but they have to stand 2 feet away and wear masks. >>> four people are displaced this morning after a fire in san francisco. anne m

i'm michelle griego. >> and i'm kenny choi. a flight from san francisco to australia made an emergency landing early this morning. passengers say that they saw flames from the engine during take-off. kpix 5's anne makovec is live at sfo this morning with some more details. anne. >>> reporter: this united flight was supposed to be on its way to sydney, australia right now but instead it made an emergency landing back here at sfo at about 12:30 a.m. here's a look at the flight path from the website flightradar24. you can see the twisted route it took over the ocean as it dropped fuel so the plane would be lighter when it made its emergency landing. 45 minutes after taking off, passengers reported flames shooting from the left engine of the boeing 787 dreamliner as it was taking off at about 11:15 p.m. for those on board united flight 863, it was a bumpy ride. but most passengers remained calm. >> yeah. we were, i guess -- the pilot and the staff were very reassuring that things were in control and we would be fine. >> reporter: t

i'm michelle griego. >> i'm kenny choi. the manhunt is over an a suspected killer is in custody. police say they have arrested the man behind a random attack at a bart station. jessica flores is live at the pleasant hill station this morning, where officers tracked the suspect down. >> reporter: that's right. this is where the manhunt for the suspected killer ended, here at the pleasant hill bart station. they say he stabbed and killed nia wilson, the 18-year-old. police got a tip and stopped this train here and took him into custody without incident. attacked andlethat and injuher sunday night. cowell got on at the concord station along with three sisters. as they arrived at if macarthur station, he slashed nia wilson's neck and killed her. her sister was wounded. police say he ran off and changed clothes after the murder, and tossed the weapon, triggering a day-long manhunt and leaving bart riders on edge. >> as they were transferring at the macarthur platform, they were approached by an individual with a knife, who struc
