kenny choi was there tonight. kenny, have crews showed up at all, any kind of responding crews?> reporter: we are here on king drive west of south san francisco. the downpour has been heavy throughout the day and the winds have been extremely strong. take a look behind me. see what happened at this valero gas station. the winds completely knocking down this canopy and this awning. you can see the two beams folded right on top of the fueling station. we spoke to several witnesses in the area who heard that loud sound, and they say that they were scared! luckily, this area had been taped off, the gas station had been closed for most of the day . some people in the area saying that the electricity had gone out, and they really haven't seen many people pumping gas here at the station. so a fortunate situation in that sense, but no one was in the area when this thing came crashing down. but you can see that there is going to be a long cleanup process here in this area. you can understand and see the impact of these heavy downpours and these extremely strong winds in this storm. >>> a

kenny choi is about to show you the damage and how people there are dealing with the mess. >> reporter: rising water quickly inundating and flooding streets, homes and businesses as the pescadero creek overflowed its banks. >> this is the worst we've ever seen in over ten years. the creeks are three times the size they usually are. they breached the edges. swift water flowing. >> reporter: residents without generators desperate to power up cell phones and get help found rest at a nearby evacuation center. for noaa the flooding translated to no work and a day's wages lost. >> i work in town. the roads were flooded. i couldn't go to work. it's been to no por.main station xi st side that aral aling th floo have become the most dependable gathering spot. >> these guys have pulled through every time there's some kind of evacuation or something. these guys remain open. they run on generators. pretty fortunate to have these guys around. >> reporter: first responders closed pescadero creek road, the main artery in and out of town. cal fire says it assisted at least three drivers who got strand
