violence and the political impact of this, i'm joined by congressman brian style, who represents kenosha county. congressman, governor evers originally balked at accepting help from the federal government, originally, he then relented, but after the first couple of nights of mayhem when he sent in 250 national guard troops, you said that wasn't enough. what's the situation now? >> from the very beginning i was talking with local officials on the ground who made it very clear they did not have sufficient resources to be able to handle the situation. that's where i called the president. the president took my call. we said we need to get federal assistance to the city of kenosha immediately. it was again 24 hours before the governor would accept that offer. once that offer was accepted, and it was clear to those criminal elements that that was not going to be tolerated, we got the upper hand and public safety was established again in kenosha. we need to maintain that. we have had a good few nights in a row now. we need to maintain that for the days, weeks and years ahead. people want public safety
