right now, we are hearing from the mayor of kenosha, from the county sheriff, we're hearing from the city's police chief and they're talking about the shooting. i don't know the specific details, they just started getting into it in the past couple of minutes when they started the press conference, they were talking about the property damage, talking about the surge of national guard troops, talking about maintaining security for tonight, they're extending the curfew or another day and pulling it back an hour to 7:00 p.m. we're still waiting to hear what they are commenting on with that shooting. they also in this press conference that is still ongoing now, they also talked a little bit about the original shooting that started this unrest. the shooting of jacob blake. and what they said and we heard from the police chief there, and he clarified that he couldn't give any more details because it was not his department that was doing the investigation. here in wisconsin, after there is a police shooting, it then goes over into another agency. it was the county and now the state doing th

>> reporter: so we're finally hearing from the sheriff's office in kenosha county and they say the reasonbecause he has felony warrants on him and they say that this kind of classification, that anyone with this classification that we are guarding in the hospital would be treated in this manner. so, they're arguing it's protocol, essentially and that is why they're doing it. but you have to question this kind of protocol, given the condition that mr. blake is in. we know he's paralyzed. he can't leave. so t would be natural to raise questions on why you need shackle him and because it's protocol doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. but that's what they're argue. and an incident on sunday, they knew there may be a person there that was wanted on a warrant. i listened to the radio transmissions and the entire incident that lasted minutes. we knew jacob blake was going to be there and they went in knowing they were probably going to be and how and why it escalated to the point where we see officers pulling their gun and obviously shooting him. >> in the official report, was that taser wa

right on the edge of a police line made up of national guardsmen, sheriff's office, and police officers, right outside the kenosha countyourthouse here. and as you walk around, you see it's made up of officers standing in person. but also, large vehicles, like these, where officers, like the sheriff's office here, are seen on top of it. literally, aiming nonlethal projectiles at some of these people, at some of these demonstrators, as they get too close. so, this is really, in some ways, what has been the battlefield between demonstrators and law enforcement here. you see the remnants of it. a garbage truck on fire that was meant to be a barrier for more people to get to this part of kenosha, here. and then, you see the remnants of what protestors remain. at one point, there were literally hundreds here, trying to get across this field and this road, closer to that line of, again, officers that i was showing you a few moments ago. and once they basically got to this grass portion, that is when officers began firing tear gas. some of those nonlethal pelts that we were talking about as well. but that, also -- there was al

president trump is tweeting that violence in kenosha, wisconsin has stopped since the national guard moved in. just a short time ago, the milwaukee county sheriff'sffice says it has released jacob blake from custody while he's in his hospital room after being shot by police. his handcuffs have been removed according to the sheriffs. a bond was posted underlying his arrest warrant. the rioting in kenosha is the latest in what has been a long hot summer of violent protests around the country. we look at the politics surrounding the violence. here's mike emanuel. >> republican senator rand paul and his wife kelly with -- were approached by protesters. >> they saw me when we got to the policeman or i don't think we would have survived. >> it wasn't just the senator being threatened leaving the white house. others were harassed making their way home from the rnc convention. this week in wisconsin, it erupted into several nights of violence following the shooting of jacob blake in the back by police until the national guard was brought in to restore order. there was violence and looting in seattle, portland, new york, chicago and minneapolis for much o

kenosha with more. hi mike. reporter: there were armed counterprotesters last night. the county sheriffrm vigilante. we started getting scattered traffic there were armed conflicts with the counter protesters and black lives protesters at the gas station behind me. all at once a quick volley of gunfire came from this direction. people started shouting for medics. as we went to check out what was happening down here, there was a big melee of gunfire. [shouting] [gunfire] >> get down. get down. get down. [gunfire] reporter: when the chaos cleared there were multiple shooting scenes. police say two people were shot, two people were killed. one person was injured. by our observation, the person who was injured was shot through the arm. people on the street say he walked himself into an emergency room. police are still searching for a suspect. all of that follows another night of cops and protesters with this back and forth exchange that has become standard at these big riots or demonstrations. the county courthouse has become a flashpoint. there is a big fence around the county courthouse.
