kent island with a sunset we see there.finish to the day on kent island in the eastern shore. temperature at freezing in baltimore. most spots just above it. very little wind to speak of. this will be a player tomorrow. bringing in milder air and the sunshine around. significant warm up compared to the cool days in the 40s we'll bounce up at or close to 60 tomorrow. so clear across the east coast. it's quiet weather wise. as we look at the pattern you can see why, it's chilly and dry with high pressure offshore. canadian air mass coming in with the wind saturday, settling in through the day today or i should say before midnight tonight across the area and as by look at monday, this goes further offshore and generates the return for the south wind to replace the temps locked in across the northeast with these temperature which are in the mid-50s toward memphis and montgomery and that air will shift north tomorrow. it will be a significant warm up. the trend will change toward midweek. crystal clear through the day tomorrow.

and 48 also in kent island. the winds have turned around to the north.nd that's normally a cooler wind for us. when we open up these temperatures, there's just not that much cooler air behind us. because on the other side of this high, we're drawing up another round of cold air already. so even today, this is february, in chicago. it's 44 degrees right now. 42 in minneapolis. and that's the air that's moving in our direction. so overall in this forecast, we go up and not down. we've got another storm that is going to push this milder air our way. and when it does move in our direction, this storm is going to completely fizzle out. we'll see some clouds during the day tomorrow. just the slightest chance for a shower later tomorrow into wednesday with it. although most of us are probably not going to see anything from this. then it gets out of here. here comes the big warmup behind that. our temperatures not only jump into the 50s. but by the end of the week, we are back up in the 60s. so our forecast is like this. on the waters. those winds do pick up out

this is kent island, a nice shot down at the dock. crystal clear that will hold up through the day. tomorrow night we could see a few showers. temperatures, though, fairly comfortable, just below 50. the winds have been the main culprit this afternoon, steady from the south at 10 to 15. we had gusts 6 in -- 26 in d.c. changes are nice and clear to our south and west. we should stay clear overnight tonight. the overall pattern looks or appears to be quiet to our immediate west. it's a fast moving weather pattern, so we expect a new disturbance to spin up. in the immediate future a front comes through dry tonight. it will be a wind shift but not much cold air. tomorrow we should be well back as we work into thursday potentially getting warmer. in between the two warmups, we'll have the slight chance for rain tomorrow night. it's a quick pattern but you can see that milder air building in across the southeast where they're not '60s and '70s. tomorrow a sunny start to the day. temperatures warm up above 50, then that chance for rain, narrow band of precipitation between 6:00 and 10:00.

immediate metro area, temperatures upper 40s to about 50, 52 clum by, a 51 annapolis and 51 on kent island, winds with a northwest flow to them, really not even keeping us in the cool zone, northwest wind taps into cold air, not this time. a lot of sunshine and northwest wind is only tapping into air that is very much like we are up around the great lakes, every 1 is in the milder range. what we have now is a disturbance forming around the gulf that will make its way in here saturday night and start crossing the southern states and by sunday morning into the afternoon it is going to start crossing just south of us and out to sea. we are still watching how close it is going to come, the closer it comes the more snow, the farther out the more rain. it is still formic and still the path path is developing but we are going to see mostly the ground warming up and have mostly a wet snow event but as marty mentioned monday is the problem because whatever is down on the ground sunday night when the temperatures drop down into the 20s could freeze and that could be a problem on monday morning. fort

kent island 46, 42 rock hall, 41 westminster and bellaire and 47 in columbia, winds from the northwest around central maryland 14 miles per hour down towards easton, 13 elkton, those are the highest winds that we have around, just a light breeze around most of the area, high pressure is in control, is bringing in some of that cooler air drying us out from any of the moisture that is around, we had just a little taste of that yesterday with the colder air moving on through when the front that brought those winds picked up the winds last night. it has moved out of here. now we are dealing with high pressure in control of the forecast. pretty much sunshine out there, but this low around denver smacking them around is moving in our direction, that moisture has to go somewhere, that front is tracking east and eventually we will some of that move into the region. the high is going to ease off, by saturday or sunday we could see that rain moving through here, maybe, maybe, a mix in the coldest hours but for the most part app all rain event and by sunday we see clearing after the morning is ov

the cold front came in and the -- you see him dousing the camera here on kent island as we look over chesapeake and -- as the day goes on, eventually moved off shore. wind advisory up through midnight. may be extended further for part of the state. the central maryland and eastern shore will see on that as we get later. from the west 25, or so miles an hour in most spots, eastern shore, winds still lighter but gusting high, gusting to over 30 now, baltimore, nearly 24 in easton. some of the peak wind gusts locally, 41 arnold and edgewood. it's one windy night. let's talk temperatures, they are in the mid40s. continuing to drop tonight. we will end up in the upper 30s and recapping kind of what happened today that warm air boundary, 77 degrees, before getting severe weather late in the afternoon. most of central maryland could not get out of the midand upper 50s. that warm air surge that produce near record levels near richmond and roanoke. it didn't make it in today. high temperature was off from last night if you were watching, sorry about that. east coast view things starting to cl

as we go to kent island you can see the additional clouds rolling in as we finished out the day. the radar, where is the precipitation, out well west of us. that's the leading edge, ahead of the main area of moisture and precipitation with the system but you know if a few winter type showers toward w isp and garret. yes, a little bit of precipitation in the state but it's well to the west now. temperature wise, just above freezing, most of maryland, 36 in baltimore, 32 winchester and 37 in easton and as we come in tighter you can see today we got up very close to 50, the average high up to around 45 for the baltimore area. get -- pretty nice stuff, a few degrees warmer than average after a much colder than average saturday and sunday. dry weather, very dry weather and there will work in the way of showers, we will keep the chance for showers and a couple of snow showers mixed with rain showers, if that happen it'll be early in the morning and perhaps late tomorrow, most of the day just hit and miss rain showers, not much moisture to work would. dry air at the surface, all of this

and until you get down to annapolis and kent island, 33 in both locations. calm winds are with us around central maryland and down towards southern maryland and lower eastern shore seeing 5-mile-per-hour winds from the north. variable wind will shift to the northeast as this low starts to move offshore a kicks -- and kicks back the counterclockwise flow. that's going to tap into the colder air that you see a front moving across the great lakes pulling down very cold air. this moisture is going to move into it and tomorrow, as we get up into temperatures around 42 degrees. anything that comes into the region early on is going to come down in the form of rain. as the temperatures start to drop, through the afternoon and evening, into the range of around freezing or so, we will see that mix of rain and snow as it starts to pull in that cold are air and the snow accumulation will happen late in the afternoon through tomorrownight. one to three inches potentially across the top tier of the states. 2 to 4 closer to the center of the low. as it moves out of here. a

and then on kent island. same temperature in annapolis and in columbia. a within westminster and in rock hall. saw the calm winds out there, they are not part of the real story just yet. that will change later this evening. it will be developing off the coast and really start to kick back another easter type -- back nor' easter type winds. this is cold arctic air dipping in. the jet stream tipped down low enough for the cold air to move across the region. the moisture is coming in from the southwest. that is off the coastline and make its way up into nabbed. what is going on here. we will get a bit of a break. we have seen the tail ends. and this will happen and come through with the coastal storm. this is going to create the winds. and blustery afternoons. and we will have 18 degrees. really, right around 20 degrees. overnight low and they are going to kick in. and fill down around 10. near zero and parts of the area. that is the headline for tonight. sunset is at 540. and goes into effect at 8:00. and stays with us in the early afternoon. >> gail warnin
