kent island looking at one of those fantastic friday sun sets. look at that, outstanding. all right. let's get into it. maryland's most powerful radar. it's clear and radar should stay clear through monday evening before we have the slightest chance of a shower. right now temperature wise you can see the contrast. central maryland still hovering near 50. central western maryland 40s and 32 out in oakland. you get the idea. there is colder air to the north and west. with the steady wind it will continue to funnel in. we'll be down to 30s tonight and struggle to get out of the 40s tomorrow. we'll get to the upper 40s. winds gusting now to 30. they were gusting to 40 in the last hour or two, so beginning to diminish a little bit. the atmosphere is a little mixed up, more so in the afternoon. we should see the winds relent. you can see the cold front that came through and brought all the gusty winds. that's all the way down into savannah, georgia and cooler drier air punching in is going to be the theme tonight, tomorrow, tomorrow night a true cold shot but a brief short lived

kent island. as we take a look at the extended scan north, you can see through pennsylvania, a couple of wintry type showers toward williams point. this is fizzling out. temperature wise, 50 in winchester now. 37 in hagerstown. you get the idea there's some colder air that will funnel. tonight we're not mid-50s but the northwest winds will keep pushing in cooler and cooler air tonight. tomorrow a struggle, i think to get out of the 40s for most of us. highs today were in the low 60s. this is little ms. leading -- misleading. it had not made it into the inner harbor, d.c. or annapolis or cambridge, so these numbers were just after midnight. we never quite warmed up through the day. across the region you can see clearly the front that came through. you can she that boundary just offshore. this will continue to push further and further out. as it does so, it will help drag in cooler air. as we look at the overall pattern, again, those renegade showers. cooler air wrapping in behind this thing. very dry conditions across most of the eastern u.s. this will be a brief shot but quite a cold shot and very d

look at that view from kent island, a couple views from hemingway. maryland's most powerful radar. across the state we've got 60 in baltimore. ocean city, which hit 70 earlier getting a north breeze off the water, northeast breeze. that dropped their temps. the oat water is cold and warm air temps today. 0 in d.c. 70 in cambridge. 54 in york. quite the contrast as you went further north today. it's clear across the mid-atlantic. nothing happening tonight. high pressure sits in control, quiet weather and a boundary south of us. the main cold air has not filtered in yet. as we go through the overnight cooler. a struggle to get out of the low to mid-50s, very dry hair in place. that's making its presence felt. we look at the trend and she if there's anything coming our way tonight or tomorrow. the answer is not much tonight, but you see our storm system just begins to develop as a weaker storm system by tomorrow evening. we could see showers late tomorrow night. as we roll the time forward, that main line coming in, this is 9 a.m. saturday morning. that looks like our sort of jackpot

kent island. you see people on the dock. take a look at the radar. all clear that will hold up tonight. tomorrow not so much. we take hit and miss showers throughout the day. we perhaps get rid of them by sunday late in the day. temperatures 81 in dulles. and 81 in easton. winds are light and variable. it was just a light enough breeze off the chesapeake to hold the temperatures down. you see the high was stuck at 77. most of the prest climbing easily above 80. 84 downtown and pushing 90 in frederick. if it was in the for that morning forks i have a feeling we would have seen 90 in march in frederick. take a look to the west. scattered showers. this would be the game changer. tomorrow we'll be lucky to hit 70 degrees. i think we and up shy of that in baltimore and cooler on sunday. it's wrapping in cooler air behind it. the leading edge is positioned over west virginia and eastern tennessee. we bring in hit and miss showers and bring in cooler air wrapping in. remember, that cloud cover will hold temperatures down. in the meantime that warm air is still surging. high pressure will get p

to stay here for a while and again this is the winter. 72 degrees baltimore, look at all these 70s, 67 in annapolis, kent island but as we get the effects of the water that water is still in the 40 degree zone so those temperatures will drop over the next couple of hours. we do have a northwest wind in effect, normally that is a cooler wind for us but look at what is upstream? 70 in chicago, 62 in detroit. this is not all that cool so we are still pulling from a new round of warm air. this is how everything comes together. high pressure is in control right now. it is just gorgeous outside. there are a couple of different fronts that move our way starting tomorrow. one is off to the north here, way up here in canada. that is going to come down from the north. at the same time there is one out to the west here. and they sort of converge toward us tomorrow. we will see more clouds mix in. then on friday that northern one sort of gets deflected by this western one and it is behind that northern one that the chilly air is so we are sort of keeping it away as this western one comes in, when it does a chance for showe

kent island, rock hall, 70. just an incredible day this afternoon. to the west, this front looks pretty impressive now.n fact, behind it, there's even a little rough cold air for rest of missouri, believe it or not. and a lot of the energy is going up to the north of our region and to our south. kind of caught in between. watch what happens to this big batch of rain. kind of splits a little bit. not a whole lot coming into western portions of the region. we'll see the clouds already here. but we will see if you go due west, there's just not a lot of rain with it. most of it down here in southern kentucky, around bristol, tennessee. we'll see a few showers. and tomorrow afternoon, it clears up completely, as the front moves through the area. and these showers are gone by late tonight, tomorrow. breezy, sunshine for the most part. and yes, it will be cooler. tomorrow's highs, only in the mid- to upper 50s. still above normal. and by saturday, the real cool air, with this system moves in. saturday, probably only staying in the mid- to upper 40s. so it's going to feel pretty chilly here on saturday. meanwh

right now, looks like it will be very isolated. 48 over in columbia. and 50 now in kent island.inds out of the southeast. pushing the water on the west side of the bay. and that's why we have higher- than-normal tides. in fact, we have a coastal flood advisory. in fact, all of the region, as you can see, under the flood watch. because of the heavier rains earlier. a tornado watch, portions of west virginia. that's west of our region. but all of that because of warm moisture coming up from the gulf of mexico. clashing with some colder, dryer air, coming in from the canadian plains. and the big storm center, right through that region. you can see big storms breaking out, along that frontal boundary. that's where the twisting of the atmosphere is occurring. southerly winds here. west winds here. it's beginning to turn. some of the storms become tornadic. and they are long-tracked and moving very, very quickly. for us, rain moving to the south. we have a break at least through the portion of the overnight. and during the day tomorrow, as the front comes in, maybe a thundershower, a

kent island, annapolis, 69. a light east/northeast wind. keeping us a little in that marine air, at least for tonight. tonight look for fog. fog this morning. west of the bay, patchy fog again tonight. didn't see any rain today. so we probably won't see as much fog as we saw this morning. had a little rain last night. the area picked up about 4/100ths of an inch. this is where the rain is. gulf moisture streaming northward. the jet stream. it's warm here. cooler out here. in fact, pretty cold in the west and northwest. shower and thunderstorm activity this afternoon. iowa into texas and oklahoma. some areas picking up 6 or 10 inches of rain. tremendous amounts of rain. the flow into the gulf of mexico, feeding that. beginning to thin out a little bit. some of that rain will be here, we think, friday, saturday, probably late friday, saturday and sunday. and a good chance we'll see cooler temps. and yes, some rain. and we definitely need that rain. it's been quite dry. warm and dry. and it's going to stay warm and dry. temperatures probably around 80 degrees. chicago today, was 84 degrees. we could easily get to the low 80s.
