it's humidity in this area across arkansas and parts of kentucky tennessee north carolina where they're in a stripe that's under a winter storm warning for the day on thursday and potential of heavy snow. here's how it shapes up in the futurecast. this version of the computer model shows a fair amount of sunshine around the area. temperatures around 40 degrees. clouds increase late at night. we get into thursday morning early and it analyzes through snow but notice the darker blue and this is what we think is probably closer to what is going to happen. any measurable snow. lower eastern shore we might see a little bit of light snow. there's also a chance we could see no snow at all. depends how sharp of a cutoff that we have develop. the reason that we're concerned at all it can happen early on thursday morning, just in time for rush hour. snowflakes, rush hours don't go well so much together. find we'll clear it out a bit. tomorrow, 40 degrees with a high temperature and a little sunshine. next seven days we'll turn it colder again. right now, holding with a 50% chance of snow on thurs

so heavier snow in southern missouri, illinois and into western kentucky and northwestern tennessee. that's destined for our area. by 5:00 this afternoon, it will be dry. but the snow to the southwest is falling in washington and moving to baltimore. it will move into the philadelphia area during the late evening hours. at 11:00 this evening, snow will be falling and accumulating in south delaware and jersey. by tomorrow morning, inches of snow on the ground. at 4:00 we could see 3 inches on the ground in philadelphia. and it will still be coming down. so today, during the day, it's the cold. bitter cold with windchills of 20 degrees below zero. and then tonight here comes the snow accumulating. i'm looking at 3 to 8 inches in the area. 8 inches for delaware and south jersey. four to six possible for philadelphia. then a few scattered snow showers won't appeal to much on wednesday, but you will notice the record cold to make a return later this week for thursday and friday. morning low temperatures back down near zero. sunday afternoon, a chance of rain and snow. >>> all right. 5:21.

look at this system it's big extending to the west into kentucky and tennessee so we've got hours of this snow yet to go. the biggest storm of our season so far, the winter storm warnings up they cover the area. we'll have a little more on which arias will receive the highest amounts with the storm. i can tell you everyone will have just enough to shovel and we are looking at hazardous roads later this evening. it's not going to take much. we'll be getting those snow-covered roads now. camdoug kammerer as more on temperatures. >> extremely critical. we've been so cold over the last couple days and just showed you that camera along i-95 in fredericksburg, the sides of the roads covered here. it will not take much at all to see accumulation on the roadways. take a look at the temperatures. those temperatures still in the teens in most locations. we're talking about the low to midteens as we continue to move through the overnight hours. we'll see those numbers rise just a little bit, but most areas will stay below 20. we're 17 in d.c. only 12 right now in gaithersburg and 16 in leesburg
