right now we do have scattered storms in ohio down into kentucky and tennessee. this did produce severe weather yesterday afternoon a tornado there in illinois. the area of storms that will be affecting us is in kentucky. and it is still about 9 1/2 hours away of getting into our region. so that will be maybe around 3:00 or so and a little bit after that farther to our east. right now around the metro area, just a little bit of scattered drizzle around. don't have anymore rain and temperatures are chilly. right now we're hovering just in the mid-40s around the metro area but warmer air beginning to push into the shenandoah valley. southwesterly breeze will be warming us up into the afternoon and that threat of storms increases. a look at the severe storm risk zone just updated, that is coming up at 5:11. alexis how is the friday morning traffic? >>> we have h street in northeast closed between 10th and 11th street this is due to police activity and the police investigation. it is closed in both directions until further notice. elsewhere on the beltway in maryland

you could see we've got severe thunderstorms and even tornado watches posted for kentucky and tennessee direction later on this evening but a lot of it will start to bypass us to our west. nonetheless we talk about the severe weather threats and the criteria here. a low probability in philadelphia, points to the north of finding winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour. so, this is the biggest threat today, a moderate probability of finding winds gusting as high as 60 if you're in south jersey and delaware. severe weather threat, hail up to an inch very low across our region. >>> the only spot where you might find that down across south jersey and delaware and as far as an isolated tornado is concerned probably not going to find it but it is low as far as the probability is concerned across our region. so the biggest threat this evening, guys, as we're tracking that moisture will be those winds gusting up to 60 miles per hour. so, it is mild today. the moisture moves out and just in time for the holiday weekend. >> yes. >> we're looking dry with plenty of sun guys. >> not bad at all. >> th

tornado watches for parts of kentucky tennessee. yesterday 10 reports of tornadoes. that low pressure will move up to our north and west and it will swing a cold front our way and there is a risk that we will see some thunderstorms bubbling up ahead of that. that could turn severe. break it down as far as the risks. the biggest risk with these storms would be damaging winds, wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. looks like a moderate risk south of philadelphia. the jet stream could help provide those winds. a low risk around philadelphia and areas up to the north and as far as hail just a low risk south of wilmington and this really is the first time we're looking at the threat of severe weather. a low risk of an isolated tornado but there is a possibility, a slight chance best chance would be south of our region but again a slight possibility. i'll talk more about the system pulling through tonight and what it means for your weekend coming up in the full accuweather forecast sharrie. >> okay, cecily thanks. >>> and you can stay ahead of changes in the weather by check
