and i do wonder what i did to kepler because it is even more problem in a historical subjects. you get all the information you can and do the best you can. when it is somebody who is still alive you have a certain obligation to them to make it a little more real and keep it a little more authentic. i had the advantage of going in fairly often to talk with him. not a lot occasionally. i would take him a copy. if i was writing something and have a question i would go in for that purpose. especially when i was writing this book i would see him in person and i would think about what i had written about him and think it isn't quite right. i have gone a little bit astray and fictionalized him little bit. it is so easy to do. the choice of a word, the tone of a paragraph, the urge to make something a little more dramatic, a little more funny. so easy to do. so hard to resist. i felt obliged to respect to a large extent is don't interpretation of himself which you would not do with a historical figure. some reviewers have taken me to task for writing an uncritical biography but i might
