now let's turn to kerry sanders in north carolina where a hearing is to take place over the release ofotage of the fatal shooting of andrew brown jr. this is important. it's not that police are refusing to release this video. a judge has to make a ruling in north carolina. >> we have a state law that makes this a much more complicated process than you see in other parts of the country. let me take you up to the courtroom now. you can see right now the courtroom is mostly empty. we are waiting for judge jeffrey foster who will be listening to arguments. now he's going to hear from the petition to release the video to the family. releasing the video is a word that requires some definition here because they've already released one 20-second clip and what that meant to andrew brown's family was they got to go into the police station or actually the sheriff's department here and watch that 20-second clip as many times as they want. they were not able to take it out with them, put on a computer and analyze it and review it, and what they would like, of course, is all of the body cam as well

kerry sanders has new details about cruise ships preparing to sail again.f the milwaukee bucks, alex lazry, has the inside scoop on his team giving out vaccinations to fans. but we've got to start with dom chu watching the markets. dom, big earnings week, huge gdp numbers, obviously, as we reopen. how are things looking this morning? >> stephanie, markets are pulling back this morning but they're falling from record highs hit just yesterday. the s&p 500 and nasdaq both hit historic levels. this week you mentioned we learned the u.s. activity monitor grew by nearly 6 1/2% the first quart irof the year. that's thanks in large part to widespread covid vaccinations and the stimulus effort that boosted spending. and the jobless claims continued dropping to the lowest levels since the start of the pandemic last year. on the earnings side of things, we're halfway through earnings reporting season and the numbers continue to look good relative to last year for s&p 500 companies. for those companies that have already reported, profits grew by -- get this -- 57% year

but norwegian cruise lines says everyone who boards its ships will have to be vaccinated nbc's kerry sanders morning. >> reporter: good morning, sheinelle. cruise lines say they're being treated unfairly go to any airport in the country, it's packed some cases, there are more passengers at airports now than it was pre-pandemic. it is amazing how packed the airports are but the cdc still has cruise lines shut down from any u.s. ports. the cruise line executives are now beginning to show their frustration. norwegian cruise lines is back in business, announcing this morning they'll resume sailing july 4th the industry needs cdc approval to sail from u.s. ports, and that remains iffy. until then, most cruise lines are departing from foreign ports. norwegian announcing it plans to cruise from jamaica, the dominican republic, and greece the cruise industry wants to sail again from places like miami. norwegian's ceo is growing weary with the cdc. >> yes, i am frustrated. >> reporter: other travel sectors are back at full capacity, yet cruise ships remain shut down. >> every other sector of the trav
