kevin cooper cooper says most of the resorts are now up to 90 95% staffing with better pay for workers at vail resorts and the out, i'll terra grew up, which is the palisades. even mammoth mountain swallow resorts all raised their basic entry hourly rates. these are a lot of locals coming back to the workforce, so it's just really nice to see the resorts active. the village bustling and the businesses all opened back up. and told us the conditions on the slopes are excellent. some of the resorts at the higher elevations got up to 20 inches of new snow from the last storm. and if you are heading to tahoe make sure to check the road conditions with another storm moving in. that's right. a winter storm watch begins that tomorrow afternoon for the sierra, but this time will be some higher elevations. still levels are going up to around 7000 or 8000. ft today, though we had a bit of a break in the rain fall, you can see the rainfall totals over the past three days. the bulk of this moving in early tuesday morning and look at these big time numbers, canfield. almost five inches of rainfall.

now earlier on the four we heard from tahoe expert and founder of cooper marketing and media, kevin cooper, and he had this advice for visitors. everybody needs to have an emergency road kit and their car flares, flashlight, extra sleeping bags , water, cell phone charger and a full take a gas so you could definitely if the road closes. you can take a little bit of extra time and keep your car warmth. the avalanche watch affects primarily backcountry areas where drivers can experience very dangerous avalanche conditions it does not apply to ski areas or highways. that warning will last until seven, a.m. on friday and pgd offering up the following storm. safety tips never touched down wires used flashlights, not candles during an outage and if you do lose power turn off electrical appliances to overload, avoid overloading circuits and prevent fire hazards when power is restored, get a portable charging device sure to have fresh drinking water and ice. alright just to reiterate this is not the storm of the century is just one of the first storms. we've seen a little while. so we're getting l

kevin cooper. cooper. good to see you were digging the jacket, man. it looks it looks fantastic. hey you know you got a couple of big storm systems moving in that way, you're going to get all that new snow falling on top of the existing snowpack . and that makes avalanche is a real concern. you heard about the warning here. what do you recommend for people to make sure they stay safe if they're heading up to tahoe in these conditions. that's a great point . we are going to get a pretty significant system. this is gonna be dropping out of the gulf of alaska and we're looking anywhere between 12 to 24 inches in the next 48 hours with another subsequent system right behind that, so we're looking at anywhere between 2 to 4 ft. on the conservative side anywhere here along the crest, and absolutely that's going to raise the avalanche danger significantly anywhere if you're going to back country and i love the way you guys reference to sierra avalanche center, so that's the that's the perfect site for you to go to if you want to know what to do. additions are the sierra in the back coun

we have kevin cooper from south tahoe. kevin, you are known as the snow whisperer.i will tell you what, it's about nine right now. mother nature arrived on time this morning about 4:30. we are starting to see nice stuff starting to accumulate this morning, and we are getting ready for the big game here later this afternoon. >> people are trying to get there before the weekend. when is the best opportunity to try and get to the sierra? >> that's a great question, kari. i will tell you, right now, if you are on your way now come on up and get into reno and the basin, and chains are required on 88. once this thing starts to settle in, you just mentioned, we are going to start saying one to two, three to four inches of snow per hour over the next several hours. that's just dangerous driving conditions. caltrans will be working hard to keep the state routes open and highway i-80 open, but when you see that much snow pileup, they will have a hard time keeping up with the snow load, so there's a possibility those highways could close, so be prepared to slow your roll, but

for more on this, we're joined now by kevin cooper coupe, the founder of cooper, marketing and mediare residents stoke expert up there at tahoe coop. it's good to see you, man. hey so this is huge for that area. this gondola creates a 6000 acres. ski area, the second largest resort in the country. how significant is this? for folks up in tahoe. great question, alex. it is a question that dickens you know, squat. excuse me, palisades it doll and outline hooking together 6000 acres. they're not afraid. they built the tramp. you know, back in the early seventies, the tram went in. they had a gondola. they built the funny tell, but now they had the foresight to link two of the best resorts in lake tahoe together, giving us just about 6000 acres of some of the most amazing scale will terrain and the beauty is you can start it either base, you can start with alpine meadows. the lodge have some breakfast, he sure would possibly summit chair cruise around and then go over and ski squabble in the afternoon, or vice versa. this is this is very significant for the tahoe basin for sure. well you
