kevin corriveau has been tracking that system and more. that system that specifically just hit iowa, he joins us with the latest. >> that's right, del. that system produced six preliminary tornadoes. you notice the big line that goes all the way through the north and parts of illinois, intersecting iowa. specifically focusing on iowa. what you notice is one line of thunderstorms moves through but that was not the line of thunderstorms that produce the tornadoes. now take a look at where the tornado damage was. it was where that second line of thunderstorms was. that is the cold front that is moving through. you notice there is nothing behind it, everything is clearing out so for iowa they do expect to see more thunderstorms this evening especially for the eastern part so for the western part we are cleared out. good news for them, all the watches have been dropped in that particular area. >> kevin, stay with us. the latest tornado of a dozen twisters to touchdown dozens injured in the city of cisco texas. leaving a stretch of damage up and

kevin corriveau is here. >> that's right. we'll go to the radar and you can see the well-defined line. kansas to texas, i'll take you to oklahoma. i want to show you a video that came in. this is outside elma oklahoma. it's a wedged-shape tornado, wide at the base. extreme damage and they tend to stay on the ground for a while. we'll get the reports in and tomorrow, the national weather surface will go in and estimate and survey the damage caused by this tornado, as well as the other tornados that we have seen across the region. we are not done yet. come back to the wall. what we can expect to see through the rest of the evening. going down closer this was the area we are watching the tornado here. at grand tulsa, we are looking at warnings in effect. i mentioned tomorrow the national weather service will go in and look at the damage. when we looked at the tornado in texas, that was an ef3 tornado, with wind gusts up to 160 miles per hour causing 40 million in damages. right now, across parts of tulsa to the north and the sou

kevin corriveau tracking all the storms tonight. joining us with the latest. >> that's right. this has been an accumulationful storms all the -- of storms all the way from the beginning until tonight. we are looking at 38 tornados that we have seen in the evening hours, afternoon to evening hours across the central plains, and, of course it's here in northern texas that we did see the video. i'll go a little closer in. here is the thunderstorm activity on the radar summary. you can see that the storms are still going on just a little more to the east. look at the damage and destruction, aerial shots - look at this one here. we are talking about a pick-up truck on top of the debris and farm equipment in that particular area. we are talking about an amount of rain that has fallen across the area flooding is extensive from parts of texas all the way to oklahoma. where they have seen in some locations over 16 inches of rain in the last 72 hours. let's look at what we are looking at now. 38 tornados, and since wednesday, we have seen about 101 tornados wednesday, thursday friday as

kevin corriveau is up next with an update. stay with us. >>> following breaking news let's get more on the severe weather moving through the nation's mid section. kevin corriveau is here with the latest. >> just after the break we can upgrade the numbers to 17 tornado across the region. it's hard to anyone an accurate total of what is happening. let's look at the thunder storms. these thunder storms really have come together over the last 2-3 hours. we have a line all the way down towards texas, and that will be involved as well. here are areas from texas, kansas and up to the north, parts of minnesota. i'll get to that in a moment. here, this is a video of elk city tornado. a lot of damage reports have come in with this particular tornado, and it was quite essential. tomorrow we go out and assess the damage. rate the tornado, whether it was an f2, f3 tornado, and give out feedback on what that was. right now, we have tornado active still towards the south central oklahoma as well as northern parts of texas, and that is locati

meteorologist kevin corriveau is here with what is happening. >> we do.ut. the worse was yesterday, but we are deal with an air of low pressure. i want to take you back 24 hours, here across kansas this is what the thunder storms look like in wichita kansas and look at the flooding situation they were dealing with as they went through the evening hours. people were diving through this. a lot of cars were stuck. once it got to a point it stalled out many of the cars across the city. a dangerous situation. if you don't know how deep the water is you want to stay out of the water. they are looking at better conditions. the storm system is pushing out of the picture. cloner and clear situations in store for the next couple of days, i want to take you up to the north. the area of low pressure it's bringing showers to parts of minnesota, as well as north and south dakota. maybe even a snow flurry or two. flooding is the biggest problem that we are seeing over the next couple of days down to the south, a frontal boundary moving through louisiana and mississippi,

. >>> kevin corriveau has been a very busy man all weekend long tracking the storms and joins us with the latest. >> it's been a busy week. the storp system has been persistent, not moving too much over the last couple of days. we'll see movement with the storm as we go towards tomorrow. look at what we have in terms of our forecast for the day. the rest of the day. where you see the red down the line, that's a severe storm - that's where they are expected to be. it's texas that i am concerned about over the next several hours. as i said all week we have seen 115 tornados all the way through yesterday, being a big day, we saw 46 and back towards wend 48 there. ed to so far, we have gone up and expect it to go up. i'll take you to texas. i want you to look in the northern part of texas. the thunder storms are beginning to develop, and just at the south-west of dallas those are the ones i'm concerned about. they have not decreased in intensity, and we are seeing more tornado than we think. we have seen a few in that area but the same complex is not really intensifying getting weaker as

kevin corriveau is here with the latest. we have seen severe weather and situations out there. >> that's right. and all week long but we'll deal with a bit this seasoning. look at what is happening now. i want to give you the big picture. this is an area of low pressure. this is an area that hasn't moved too much. anywhere from parts of new mexico. all the storms are out ahead of it. i want to take you here towards part of texas, you can see a line of thunder storms that's an area that we are looking at. look at the video taken moments ago. two men were trapped on their truck and rescued by a helicopter and taken to an area - to the side. everything looked fine. it looked like from the video but i - i expect that we are going to be seeing more water rescues as we go through. there they are, the two gentlemen there, taken one by one from that truck that was flooded, and the waters have increased in height in the last several minutes. coming back to the wall. taking look at the thunderstorm. we'll watch that for tornado coming

meteorologist kevin corriveau has been tracking an active storm front. it's been a rough week. >> it has. today is the worst we have seen we are looking at a tornado that was across parts of oklahoma. we had seen 39 tornados. that number will go up through the rest of the night. we have tornado watches and warnings in effect from nebraska all the way back to texas. take a look at the tornados we have seen today. a lot of damage in parts of the area. i want to show you damage that has come out towards oklahoma. we have seen over buildings in homes - do you have the video of tornado damage 50 homes and rain across the region. there's injuries associated with the tornado. and the overnight hours make it difficult when the tornados do come through in the early morning hours. what we expect to see. we have tornado warnings from kansas. it will continue for the next few hours. >> thank you. a tornado touched down in northern germany. someone was able to record it as it moved through the countryside. one killed dozens injured. while tornado are common in the u.

. >> kevin corriveau joins us, the the whole region is expected to see more rain in coming days. >> that's right hot spots heunt, sanhouston, san marco a little bit of circulation, that is going to be our next shot of energy that's going to kick off some more storms as we go towards the next couple of days that we think are going to be fairly significant. tonight we've seen storms here across parts of kansas kansas, oklahoma and texas. we have siege 19 tornadoes being reported across that region earlier this evening. they are starting to subside as the heating of the day starts to go down but tomorrow unfortunately we expect to see more in terms of active weather there. oklahoma has seen amazing amounts of rain as well as parts of texas. oklahoma city has seen just 20 inches of rain. so we're still looking at watches and warnings in this area flood warnings are still in effect for much of this area as well, rain coming into play most of it is going to be up here towards northern texas and oklahoma. we do expect to see four to six inches here. down here towards houston we could see possibly

meteorologist kevin corriveau is here with a look at the storms. it's been a rough week. >> it has been all the way from tuesday to tonight. we've seen 140 tornado. now the throat goes to flooding. here west of dallas is a complex responsible for the van tornado going through the area there. look at the aerial video that has come in today, showing what we have seen with the damage across the region, we are two casualties confirmed across the region, and we are looking at people that are missing and unaccounted for in that area. extensive damage 30% of the town, destroyed or damaged because of those tornado across the region it was confirmed it was an ef3 tornado in that area. that means the winds were 136 to 165 miles per hour. the big threat now is the flooding. heavy rain showers are pushing up to the north. you can see over the last six hours they are making their way to the north. areas flooded will be getting more rain across the region across parts of the north, we are seeing the thunder storms coming into play across pennsylvania. believe it

meteorologist kevin corriveau is here with that. kevin. >> that's right john, normally you would see this kind of destruction if you had a tropical hurricane or tornado making landfall. but as it made its way over towards houston we do have a little bit of a break for texas and oklahoma. a lot of that weather has been moving up here towards the east. but unfortunately this evening we are beginning to pick up a few thunderstorms to the western part of dallas. we're going to be watching this very closely towards the west we do have tornado warnings in effect right now. flood watches and warnings are still in effect for the earn part of texas. over the next couple of days we'll watch this area very carefully because the rain is expected to come back. even though we have a little bit of a break tomorrow, the rain will inch its way back as we get towards thursday and the weekend, it's really going to expand and as heidi said earlier, any rain that we get now is just really going to exasperate the problem. because we're looking at very ver

. >>> meteorologist kevin corriveau is here now with more. kevin?> reporter: we're talking about a double whammy tonight the severe weather and the flooding. take a look at what we have seen here. that line of thunderstorms pushing across texas. it's beginning to push a lot of weather warnings and tornado warnings across that particular region. of course where the flash food food -- flood warnings are the biggest threat right now. when we talk about flooding all together we're talking about texas, louisiana, arkansas now into mississippi and parts of tennessee. and that is going to continue at least for the next three days. this water really has to move downstream to lower elevations so that could take days or weeks across that particular area. now over the next 72 hours, we do think we're going to be seeing heavy rain here especially towards the northern part of texas and oklahoma. another five to eight inches of rain expected in that area. if you look down in this area probably seeing some lighter rain that's going to give those areas a little bit

there and kevin corriveau joins us with all the details busy already. >> we have a lot going on we may get to that. if i don't, we may later in the show. off the coast of the carolinas, the rain has started. it will build up over the next couple of days we expect to see a bit of that. one of the biggest problems is the storm surge and very dangerous rip tides, you do not want to go into the water anywhere along the coast because of the danger here. the strike below a hurricane, but we don't expect it to get stronger than it is going into 24 hours. we expect to see land fall and then weakening as it makes its way to the north. 8 inches of rain is expected here specifically in north carolina. dangerous situations if you are on the road. probably we will see flash floodings. we had a death here. i'll show you the tornado there. first of all, last night, here in parts of norman oklahoma. take a listen to the hail that we saw coming down across the region. take a look at the video. >> across the region we saw hail the size of softball. some was the region - hail is a problem. we have seen i

let's bring in kevin corriveau for more on the severe weather. >> conditions have been deteriorating every hour. we are talking about seven tornado reported in oklahoma and the flooding is extensive across the region the reason being the weather pattern has been staggered. we see rain and whether in the same areas week after week across this region. first of all i'm going to take you to oklahoma. and you can see the line of thunder storms that have moved through, very distinctive through oklahoma and tulsa. this is the damage report the green is the flooding but the red is the tornados and take a look at the video to the south of oklahoma city this. is a wedge tornado that moved through. this is one of seven that pushed through the area right before sunset this evening as well as - we have seen over 250 tornados across the united states in may. now the flooding. take a look at this across parts of the suburbs of oklahoma city. they have now seen over 17.5 inches of rain for the month of may. that has broken a record for may of over 14 inches and we are not done yet, we'll see more ra

kevin corriveau joins us with a closer look at these storms. >> things have gotten better since yesterday. we were talking about over 33 tornadoes across the area, but also the flooding with the rest accuse that went on. i want to take to you northern texas right now go about 24 mowrs back and show youhours back. the flooding line just close to dallas. more flooding in that region, the extensive area of flooding across much of the area and they were talking about over a dozen water rest accuse that had to be completed yesterday as well as this morning. and as of this morning we were talking also about 12,000 people without power, because of those thunderstorms and also the flooding situation across the region. as well as i want to take you up here towards parts of missouri. and take a look at the thunderstorms just to the back into kansas and as we go forward in time. as we went through last night these were what we saw here across parts of missouri, ork county, you can see all of the damage across the region, and we were looking at casualties but quite bit of injuries because of the dama

kevin corriveau is here with more. >> if you look at the video now, you can see how much rain is in the area. it's difficult to see if there's a tornado behind the rain cloud. all the indications are suggesting that we are looking at basically a tornado in that particular area. we do have tornado warnings in that area as we speak, right now. take a look at the radar, we are looking at a lot of activity pushing through oklahoma. closer in what you can see is the showers developing and intensifying over the last hour. and where you see the line of red in western oklahoma that's what we'll watch carefully. on the warning and watches, the lighter reds indicate the warnings, that expanded over the last hour. the video is coming out of those areas, extending from the west all the way down to parts of texas. much of the region kansas so nebraska, we are looking at the threat. this will continue for the rest of the evening. flooding is a major problem in the area. we have been dealing with this for the last week and a half. thunder storms are pounding in this area. we have seen a lot of tornado

kevin corriveau joining us now.nd all of this part of a weather system that has been with us for days. >> we're looking at finally tomorrow the whole system will finally move to the east. we are dealing with flooding and snow with the same system and from tuesday through last night, we have had 140 tornados. i want to take you towards the southwestern part of dallas and watch what happens with this particular -- i want to put it into motion. this is the thunderstorm activity that was responsible for the tornado. take a look at the damage that came out of this area. first of all we have aerials, and we are looking at casualties in this area. there are people that are still missing, but that doesn't mean that they are -- we're really looking at them as not being accounted for. hopefully we'll be able to get that total down and not have the casualty numbers go back up. yesterday it was always about parts of iowa and south dakota. it was an ef-3 tornado. that means we saw winds of 136, up to 165 miles per hour. the big

you've been talking about tornados in the area kevin corriveau, for over a week. >> if we go back to the beginning of the month, we are well above average. we are looking at warnings effect for central parts of oklahoma as well as all the yellow that you see are tornado watchers and that includes parts of the panhandling in texas, we are dealing with flooding. i'll get to that. let's talk about what is happening with the tornados. you can see the line of thunder storms passing through wichita and down through oklahoma and that is the one that we'll watch as it continues to make its way to the eased, we are talking about four preliminary tornado in parts of oklahoma it's the focus here that we'll be watching. they have been hammered week after week with all of this activity, it's a big problem across the region we see a lot of taj in terms of thunder storms. i want to take you to parts of texas, down to san francisco. it's a different story, we are talking about flooding in this area. we have seen a lot of flooding damage reports where you see the green dots to the north of san franci

let's bring in kevin corriveau to get a look at the storms. >> we had a bit. we had 32 tornado yesterday and the flooding across the region. i'll take you to texas and show you the area. you see the thunder storms behind it putting into motion developing to the north here of dallas and look at the video that came in across the area. dallas and surrounding regions saw so much rain we have broken records. the ground is flooded and saturated. flooding is easy as well as the flooding and the water rescues that have gone on. 12,000 people lost power as of this morning because of all the flooding and severe weather across the region. also i want to take you up to parts of missouri. there's a lot of activity. to the north, it came through. you can see the well defined line. it brought a lot of damage in terms of structural as well car damage across the region. there were injuries here but no fatalities, believe it or not, we are looking at these areas, seeing damage from last year, and still dealing with that as well. >> we expect to see over the next couple of hours

let's get to kevin corriveau, with more on that. >> beautiful.t will continue for the east coast. there's bad weather to talk about. that is happening across the central plain and the west. you can see what has happened here as the heating of the day progressed. we have seen a lot of thunder storms and rain popping up in the west. that's where we'll go. we have thunder storms pushing through. we have a line here. and for a little bit of time we saw thunder storms pushing through miles per hour and st. paul. those are moving through. with these storms we don't expect to see too much in terms of tornados, it will be hail and winds which we had seep. that will -- seen. that will continue through the night. there's a threat to parts of illinois maybe through parts of arkansas missouri as well leading back to the rockies. that is more of a flooding situation in the west. we'll watch that as well. now, back to the temperatures and the beautiful conditions. today, 76 in new york. washington 82. tomorrow warmer for many parts of the north-east and this w
