paul ash of kevin corriveau -- area. kevin corriveau joins us now. it's not fast-moving. >> it's not over yet. we'll see tomorrow and going into tuesday. the forecast in a moment. here is the storm. you can see the circulation, over parts of north eastern nebraska. we are looking at heavy snow not just from minneapolis, but parts of iowa, where the accumulations were 2 inches per hour. we are seeing some across the region at 7-9 inches already. and we could be seeing another 5 in some of the locations. it's not going to be widespread for everyone, but we are expecting to see about 6-8 inches for many people. temperatures are going down as you can see here in west dakota. we are talking about rapid city. we need to be concerned about the winter storm warnings. what you see in place are going to stay for a while. 24-36 hours. the snow will make its way up here to the north-east. 6-8 inches of snow. we have seen some locations already exceeding that. the other big problem is the heavy rain out here to the east. with the same storm, and that will cause m

kevin corriveau is here now. this is going to continue to cause problems as it moves east. >> the snow part of it is just about ready to end. we saw four days of snow. on the satellite image, most of it is gs going to b going to beo the great lakes. the cold front is going to be pushing to the eet east and we're going to be seeing rain from boston to new orleans. very rainy day all the way to friday morning. tomorrow looks like this, very rainy across the east. a little bit more snow out towards the west. as we go towards the weekend the temperatures are going to be dropping here on the east coast and that's going to be the first time we've seen that in about two weeks. the lowest temperature there on saturday, as we go towards sunday those temperatures are going to go back up. but anywhere from the central to the eastern part of the uforts is going to go back up to ten to 25° above average and if you are expecting flow anywhere on the east coast, you really have to go to the border to see any snow, possibly. >>

kevin corriveau joins us now with a look. it's a weird and big storm. >> it's a big storm. half the united states affected by some part of it now. let's talk about what is happening with the snow part of it. we have been talking about this for the last couple of days. the amount of snow coming out of the system has come down. we are talking 1-4 inches potentially. up towards parts of minnesota, to wisconsin. we are getting mixed rain and snow. for chicago, you'll see mixed rain and snow as well. temperatures down there. miles per hour with 29 degrees. the temperatures staying low. later in the week they'll go back up. let's talk about the rain. we have seen a lot of blooding to the south-east. the big problem is in alabama. we have flash flood warnings in effect in north-east of alabama. we are looking at many areas from tennessee, georgia to virgin report, where the flood warnings we are talking about, flood watches are in effect there. quickly to the north-east, it is the very wintry travel of freezing rain, and that will go towards tomorrow. dangerous driving conditions.

i want to bring in meteorologist kevin corriveau. kevin, how bad is this going to get? >> in terms of more rain, there is good news, because we do not have more rain, but we are looking at cooler temperatures. normally flooding like this is in the spring time but we are talking about temperatures at freezing or blow in this particular area. snow pushed through. that has now pushed out of the picture. we do not have more rain in the area, but the rain has been recorrecord breaking already ths month. st. louis, we are talking about they have received 440% of their monthly average. normally they would see two and a half inches. they have seen 11 and a half inches already this month. same for springfield, towards iowa and down towards memphis, they have seen 88%. over a foot of rain has fallen in this area, this i also the layout of the rivers. you can see as the rain fell across missouri, it's going to enter to the missouri river or meramec river and make its way down. these rivers that are hitting flood stage to the north will hit flood stage towards the south. it's going

i want to bring in meteorologist kevin corriveau on this. you warned about this yesterday. >> that's right. we have seen five to six days of rain, all that water standing in the area, making its way downstream and funnelling in the area. we saw about 12 inches of rain at some of the peaks across missouri, iowa and illinois. and down to arkansas, down towards most of the states. really, most have seen flooding of the majority of the rain has been dumped. it's cold, we have snow to the north of where he is now. it's not much of a factor. it is for people that are losing their homes, it's cold out there. the temperatures will stay cold. let's talk about how much water has fallen in relation to what they would have this time of year. i want to go to st. louis, 440% above the formal average for december. they would get 2.5 inches of rain. they see 11.5 inches of rain. demoyne, talking 393%. springfield, 276% above average, and these are the rivers that are training into the mississippi. we talk about the missouri, the merry mack and the ohio. wha

we go to kevin corriveau. >> we still have the dro tornado threat. you can see the thunderstorms that have pushed through mobile. we've seen a lot of wind damage earlier this morning, and those winds are kite gusting. one tornado reported in mississippi. but right now we're looking at that tornado warning that is in effect. that's for pensacola. we habi expect that to remain and head towards thest. we'll talk about georgia seeing warnings like that as well. now the next big threat besides the flooding, the next big threat is going to be the icing along with the storm. we're expected to see icing over an half inch to an inch or higher. wait until you see areas of sleet. across the northern sections of illinois anywhere between one inch and one and a half inches. we do have the warnings and watches in effect across this area. you see areas of pink and purple, freezing rain advisories are in effect, and we're looking for that to stay for the next 24 to 48 hours o'hare is call forgive delays as well. >> thank you very much. >> well, the force is strong w

kevin corriveau is here tracking off of it. it is getting ugly. >> it is.ust over the last couple of hours, we have seen a big expansion of thunderstorms. nine states are talking about tornado watches in effect. you can see how these clouds and these storms have really built up just over the last four to six hours across parts of arkansas, missouri, and now into parts of illinois. i want to go closer in and show you what we are looking at. specifically when you see these storms with those bright red tops those are the ones producing the bad weather. we have seen quite a bit of wind damage as well. the wind damage would be these ones right here in yellow, and that is in arkansas where we did see the fatality with those severe weathers. i also want to show you have, though, how these storms are playing out with the plains up in the air. here are those thunderstorms we're talking about. thunderstorms are making their way into o'hara right now, so what we're going to see is a lot of problems, a lot of backlogs, and that causes a domino effect. you may not be fl

. >> and kevin corriveau one week ago there were people in flip flops and sandal in the northeast. >> all the way back towards billings, montana, we are looking at temperatures well above average. and we are seeing the last bit of the system make its way across parts of new york and new england right now. there is still a little bit of rain across parts of florida. those temperatures are causing it either to be rain, sleet, or snow across much of new england. new york is 45 degrees, that's a big difference. last night it was about 34 to 35 degrees. for boston we are looking at 38. so we are seeing a change over to rain. you notice the green is starting to make its way up towards the north. that means it is changing over. we still have quite a bit of mixed precipitation, coming across new york into new england. that is still going to be a big problem here. for new york, your rain is about to end. you can see that pushing through as well as down towards washington we are looking at bet ere conditions. up towards the north we'll see quite a bit of snow. what is going to happen with these

let's bring in kevin corriveau for the very latest. >> the tornado threat is moving east. we are now talking about florida looking at tornado warnings right now. this is the radar summary. you can see the line of thunderstorms that are pushing across parts of mobile, alabama. that is they be going to go into the panhandle of florida. so far this morning, we have seen quite a bit in terms of wind damage. all of those yellow dots which means winds 50, 60, even 70-mile per hour winds there, as well as tornadoes reported in parts of mississippi. these are the warnings that have just come out and been updated. you can see over toward the panhandle of florida and alabama, those are tornado warnings. this area is going to continue to make its way toward the east where that line of thunderstorms we'll probably see these warnings go into parts of george. >> later on this afternoon, as well. otherwise, we are also talking about that snow system moving towards the north. we expect to see quite a bit of snow out of this as well as on the warm side, a lot of rain flooding and flash flo

let's bring in kevin corriveau for more. >> this is the next phase of this big storm. looking at snow and ice couple laces, which is extremely dangerous. on the satellite radar, you notice how we have the areas of blue, that is the snow, the areas of pink, well, that is now the mix area. it could be sleet, could be icing. we're going to be watching this very, very carefully, but you can see the snow here in the accident as well as new mexico. i want to show you the video. this is what a blizzard looks like when you have blizzard conditions wind gusts over 60 miles an hour. the storm needs to last over three hours. this storm lasted over 36 hours, as well as visibilities down below two below zero, one quarter mile. we saw accidents in new mexico. the blizzard warnings have been dropped but you can see through parts of illinois, we are still looking at norm russ winter storm warnings, freezing rain advisories, as well as winter weather advisories in effect now. the winds are just below blizzard conditions, temperatures are quite low. when you factor in the temperatures w

. >>> kevin corriveau is here with the latest on the storm and where it is heading. >> that's right, jonathan, we have been watching this storm for days as it made its way out through the rockies. we're still dealing with a severe threat of it with thunderstorms down here towards the south, you can see the line of thunderstorms pushing through parts of georgia right now. the tornado watches have been dropped, but that does not mean we can't see gusty winds. take a look at the map in terms of how much rain has fallen, because we had so much flood warnings and watches in place. even back here towards the west where we have seen the rain stop, we are now looking at flooding across the area. also st. louis on the mississippi river. right now we're entering moderate river level here, but we do expect to see on thursday major flood stage on the river. so that means a lot of flooding is likely around st. louis as well as downstream of st. louis as well. let's go to the north. i want to show what is happening here. we have rain, icing, snow, you can see it on these bands of colors. first of

kevin corriveau with the rest of the letter. >> we are looking at a snow storm. it caused a lot of problems, and a lot of rain to the east. let's look at that now. since the last hour, i was telling you about blizzard warnings. those were cancelled. the rest of the warnings were in place here across parts of kansas sass, oklahoma and texas. that is an area we could see, 12 inches of snow, with winds gusting up to about 20 to 30 miles per hour. if you go further back to sierra, we are looking at a bit of snow out there. i'll bring you that later in the evening. >> let's look at the big system. you see the area of low pressure. ahead of me you are seeing a lot of rain, we saw problems in texas, we want to show you the tornado damage that came out of the storm. >> two tornado reported, one in the panhandle. disease is not normally one of the big months there. we saw about 50 homes damaged. many without power, and still without power. the next threat with us is going to be flooding. take a look at d.c. you see a lot of flood watchings and warnings. here in oklahoma.
