let's bring in kevin corriveau. >> we have that air of lo pressure off the coast.ain shower after rain shower is coming into play. we may get rain the next couple of days. one big band is pushing through right now. further back, there is another wave, that's going to be the problem as going into tuesday night. lets look at what's happening on the radar. you can see the very heavy rain showers push down through parts of san francisco. you can see right here heavy rains pushing through right now and some severe weather with that, so a lot of lightning, flooding, major problem in this area, the ground is already sad rated. we are going to see more rain tomorrow night. the other big problem with this storm is the snow across the sierra nevada's, not a problem long term, we need the snow pack. if you are traveling, and highway 80 has been closed because of that across the doer pass. towards the north, we are looking at probably another eight to 12 inches of rain. toward the south, we think it will be dry in that area. the other big story is severe weather outbreak that

meteorologist kevin corriveau joins us. this will be a serious storm for a awhile. >> tomorrow going in to probably friday. look at the scope of the storm right here. see the area of low pressure. we have snow stretching now all the way back here towards new york state, upper normal state but i want to take you over here towards colorado. they have cleared out particularly look what happened earlier today. we were talking being a thousand flights cancelled at the airport. we were talking about 300 miles of highway 80 closed down. they are still closed down across parts of denver as well. and at one point, 200,000 people had lost power. now, we are allegations better at about 90,000 that are without power but the blizzard conditions have stopped across the region. roy talking about blizzard points of eastern colorado. but winter storm warnings all the way up towards the great lakes as well as right now talking about a tornado warning here across parts of arkansas. tomorrow, it's going to be another bad day across much of the

let's bring in kevin corriveau. >> and filing. is that from yesterday? >> you know spring is probably here when the skaters are back in central park. >> if the groundhog so you that, he would go back in his cave. >> it's going to be another nice day. i expect a lot more people are going to get to central park today. were the temperatures the same or higher than yesterday and there were a lot of records that were broken yesterday, anywhere from boston at 77, albany at 81, washington at 79. those are going to be rising quickly with new york at 64 degrees, but these are the daytime highs we're expecting today. today's going to be pretty much comparable or even a little warmer, depending on where you are across the region. boston, albany, you are not getting at high as yesterday. we have a boundary that moved up allowing the warm air to come in but has now settled back down. washington is expecting to get up to 84 degrees. as you go towards friday, those temperatures are going back down. a lot of people are like ahh, ok, but these temperatures are still much

kevin corriveau has more. >> reporter: we are watching more rain for the south today and tomorrow asl as the nor'easter that is expected later this weekend. right now we have instability across texas, that is going to continue to move across the gulf states. tomorrow, though, the area of low-pressure is going to develop off of any carolinas, that is what is going to become our nor'easter, as we go through the rest of the weekend and into monday morning. as we go towards sunday the area of low-pressure really begins to deepen, bringing more showers across the eastern seaboard there, and that's when the snow begins to develop. on sunday we're going to see those temperatures drop. and that is going to lead to the snow starting to develop through sunday evening and into monday. we think the snow values are still in flux, but we think we are going to be seeing messy conditions across much of the metro area, the heaviest snow will be north, and up through new hampshire. >>> lauri robinson is poised to become the first woman to combat and command. she currently leads air forces in the pacif

kevin corriveau has more. >> meteorologist: we're still looking at heavy rain across parts of western united states off the coast and that's bringing band after band of showers across the region. you can see this one band earlier this morning. we can see another band that will be a problem later on tomorrow night. most of the heavy rain has been across the central regions. down towards the south there have been severe thunderstorms. all of this rain has led to flooding across the region as well power outages in the higher divisions we're talking about snow. in some cases over three feet of snow and we could be seeing another foot of snow into the forecast. the other big problem is going to be here across parts of texas. we have an upper area of low pressure that will cause a lot of instability especially as we go through this evening as the large hail and wind damage could effect parts of texas as well as oklahoma. but this particular area really is not moving too much over the next couple of days. that is going to lead to a severe weather outbreak at least all the way through parts o

kevin corriveau a lot of rain. >> we are looking at another system coming through. that's why another day of rain today through tomorrow as well and, of course, they need the rain but they don't need the rain in this much interval. let me show you what's happening right here. you can see the area of low pressure off of the coast. really storm after storm coming along the shore. right now, we are seeing a fairly big one pushing through southern and central california. it's not only the rage. it's the snow. up near donor pass, it is closed because of the heavy snow that has been seen over the last couple of days. here is a local radar across the region. s san francisco, heavy rain. the rain here towards parts of los angeles as well. we have flood watches in he can't. these have been in effect across the coastal regions. those will continue for the last the 24 hours as well. down towards the coast. talking about high surf warnings because of that wind and circulation toward the coast. not only that will but it is the winter part of the storm there. you can see across t

let's bring in kevin corriveau for more on that. >> today, tomorrow and probably thursday and friday. >> wow. >> friday, as well, and saturday. the reason being is that an upper level low and that is really not moving too much across this area. as it spins, it's pulling in the moisture from the south and the gulf. as long as that stays there and has that energy, it is going to rain and we are going to have the severe weather across the accident, louisiana and arkansas. this is what it looks like now. you can see a lot of areas in the accident getting that very heavy rain. we are picking up some of those line of thunderstorms that are severe. we're going to be watching those carefully. they're embedded in that larger area of rain. i want to show you all of the activity we have seen in the last 24 hours. >> this red dot to the west of dallas is the tornado. notice all the green dots in louisiana. that is all the flood damage we have seen in the last 24 hours. fear thunderstorm warnings in effect right now for parts of houston, as well as down towards the border, but it's really the floo

kevin corriveau has more. >> unfortunately there is no good news for the next couple of days.son being is we have an area of low pressure over this area, bringing up the moisture. and this air pressure really is not moving. we're looking at the same ingredients over the area to continue the severe weather as well as the flooding. this is what it looks like now. we are seeing a big area of green. but you do pick up those lines of thunderstorms moving through, and within those lines, that's where we could be seeing the severe weather as well. over the last 24 hours we did have our tornado just over here towards the west of dallas, but notice all of the green dots. those are where we're seeing flooder warnings and damage across much of the area. just in the last 24 hours, northwest of louisiana picked up over 10 inches of rain, and it's not over yet. in terms of severe weather, today we'll be watching the gulf coast, but notice all of the rain expected here. over the next 72 hours the amount of rain is going to be really critical, because we're looking at very saturated ground as

kevin corriveau has the details. >> the area of low pressure is right out here in the atlantic. but a lot of rain has now turned to snow, across much of the area. now some of the areas that are going to be impacted the most are going to be mostly in new england, but as you can see over the last several hours the rain has turned to snow as those temperatures have come down across the region. now this is a closer look in the area. you can see down towards the south we have seen some rain and some mixed precipitation. the temperatures in this area are not going to go below freezing. the snow on the ground is not going to stay too long there but it's really going to be up here towards parts of boston that we'll see the most impact, where winter storm warnings are now in effect for bofd an boston and re island. boston schools are closed because of that snow. five to 8 inches of snow but localized we could see up to a foot of flow depending how long that system stays off the coast. out here in the west, behind the system another winter like scenario as we are looking at freeze warning
