kevin, great to have you here in studio. >> great to be here. jackson hole last week.ly signalling we're going to get the cuts coming up. we saw just about everything move higher. that was friday. how do you see today playing out? >> investors finally heard the words they want to hear from the federal reserve when chair powell said the time has come for spolicy to adjust. by how much and when? i believe the not chart comes back on to the table now which showed three rate cuts of 25 basis points each in 2024. we still have three meetings remaining. i bhef we'elieve we're going toe three 25-pacbasis points cuts t year. i think they'll be gradual coming up because there is threat of a potential recession, much more so than they are with inflation staying above 2%. >> so if it we're having inflation concerns, why not do a 50% basis point cut? maybe that would take pressure off the economy. sfwh i i believe it would. i believe we won't do. that they don't want a surprise market. they want to be gradual. they remember the last time they cut interest rates prior to inflation

kevin. what to do you make of this? >> yeah. i think that chair powell's going to all but indicate during his jackson hole speech that we're enteringal period of rate cuts over the next couple years. the federal reserve is becoming more concerned with the magnitude of this economic slowdown and the deterioration in the jobs market than they are with inflation staying above 2%. think back to two weeks ago, maria, when we learned the unemployment if rate hit 4.3%. the federal reserve was only forecasting on unemployment to end this year at 4%, now we're learning there could be significant upbeats to the amount of jobs that have been created over the last year -- upgrades. the fed needs to start cutting, and perhaps those three rate cutses in 2024 that they were expecting back in march are now back on the table. are remember, we have three meetings remaining in 2024. maria: well, what happens if, in fact, we see the fed lower interest rates and then we see kamala harris come up with all these new spending proposals, mark? i mean, all the spending is what got us here to 40-year highs on inflation, and the vice president has unveiled pi
