johnson. vonnie: i'm vonnie quinn. this is bloomberg markets. tesla down 10% after the electric carmaker announced plans to cut 7% of its full-time workforce. we are joined by kevinin from princeton, new jersey today. tell us about the timing of this. it comes right after the north american international auto show in detroit. and gm announced new plans for battery powered models. >> we've heard announcements from ford and general motors in terms of restructuring recently. to me, that is the bigger story. tesla is considered something different than an automaker. the biggest risk to that company, it is perceived as an automaker and it has automaker problems in terms of production and demand and pricing and profitability. this announcement is a bit scary because it lumps tesla in with these traditional legacy automakers that are out of favor the market right now. guy: can we look at this another way? tesla has had huge problems with its manufacturing story. generally, when that happens, you throw people added. -- at it. this to be that tesla is beginning to get on top of those problems, getting processes working a bit better? kevin: increased productivity would mea
