chief meteorologist kevin lemanowicz is not one to miss the weather good or bad. it is positively balmy, kevin. >> kevin: it really is doing great out here. a touch of humidity in the air but comfortable. in the 70s around the area. the highs got up to 70 degrees and still time for it to rise and sun goes down. something to watch for. 70s the first time since october 21 we have seen that happen. so it's been a while. it seems like a lot longer than that that we have seen this happen. here is the deal, even though those temperatures look nice and pleasant evening, temperatures overnight will still be dropping as they typically do when the sun goes down. what i am watching next is for the clouds to move in from the west. those clouds will be sliding into our area and will bring rain showers too. those rain showers expected to and a cold front coming our way. when you hear the words "cold front" that means usually colder weather behind it otherwise they wouldn't call it a cold front. and those rain showers and a big way the air will change the week and into the weeken

kevin lemanowicz is here now. the big question is weather -- weather. >> it's going to rain. in combination there's a storm coming to make the rain, of course. when you have the higher tides like we'll have, this will make them extra high. there's already been a coastal flood advisory issued. you see it on the map. areas in green along our coastline from the north to the south shore to the island. essentially all of the east facing massachusetts coastline and northeast facing out on the islands. that's because of the storm coming our way. something we're going to talk about. i'll explain is more in a moment this fresh this afternoon. a coastal flood warning in place . had the storm is making its way up the coast. you saw the great pictures. he promised this one. jason put it on here. he's tweeting out a picture. this great shot. you promised you dylan would have it on the air. thank you for the pictures. to to me before the clouds get here. 65 in boston the high today. the record stands at 71. no, not a record. although norwood tried to run at 71. 68 in nor woord today. tempe

fox 25 storm tracker chief meteorologist kevin lemanowicz is here. >> kevin: there is definitely a storm in the middle of the country. we're clear, you see the clouds there in new york and this is the storm system we're talking about. now, i'm going to stop this and zoom in. there is snow falling here, there is rain and there is mixing. this whole storm system wants to move off toward the northeast, but as it comes our way, it's pushing some warm air toward new england. right? but look what happens, when you have warm air riding over the top of cold air, you have clouds and you also get snow to fall into that cold air. as it warms up, it changes to rain, but tomorrow, when this gets here, it's going to be running into our cold temperatures and these are mild enough now that it will be rain, but you know they're going to fall. the clear skies we have out there right now, we're dropping down below freezing tonight and that's where the problem potentially lies. i'll show you where the issues could really crop up with some ice or some snow, first thing thanksgiving morning, just thanksgiving

let's get over to fox 25 chief meteorologist kevin lemanowicz. kev? >> you wanted to hear it so here you go. you saw the wind chills in teens and 20s out there. now the winds are still gusting and the latest gust coming on in over 20 even over 30 miles per hour. mainly almost entirely southeastern massachusetts. now there are currently no wind advisories in place. now the actual temperature not counting the wind still these will keep on falling through the night. i have seen plenty of snow here in the northeast. over two feet in parts of vermont over a foot in western massachusetts in some towns. this is going to be pushing away. but i also already have my eyes on another storm system that will be developing out to the west and looks to want to spread some snow and rain here in time for thanksgiving. latest information coming in right now. taking a look at it. i'll share my thoughts in just a few minutes. >> breaking tonight a tennessee school bus crash into a tree killing at least during our 6:00 newscast we have learned police are now investigating

fox 25 storm tracker chief meteorologist kevin lemanowicz here now, and kevin, it's dark out there tonight already, but we're going to see some rain this weekend, right. still clear. what a beautiful shot sent in to us today on twitter. we have changes to talk about. temperatures right now, still 60 in boston. that's not so bad, despite how dark it is, but tomorrow, the mild temperatures starting to go away. first place they'll leave is cape cod, because of this storm out in the ocean, wobbling back toward us, pushing some clouds on to the south shore. those will take over the area during the course of the day tomorrow, still not expecting precipitation, but this will bring some. this is rainshowers, thunderstorm activity along a cold front and this cold front means business. behind it, it is cold front enough that there are blizzard conditions here in minnesota, and in to wisconsin, and northward into canada and that snow activity is going to be in new york by the end of the weekend, and for some of you, in new england. look at the changes on our way, temperatures ahead of this front, in

chief meteorologist kevin lemanowicz is tracking when that rain will arrive. kev, there's a chance for some areas to see flooding? >> they're not actually directly related. the rain won't cause the flooding in this instance but they're coming from the same store. there's a correlation in that respect. the earth curves so it shoots higher and higher up off the is face as it goes out. some of this rain is up aloft near the clouds not reaching down to ground level. by morning it will though and shiri will be tracking as it takes over southern new england. this area of low pressure is right back in here. around it the winds are going like this. counterclockwise that means when it gets up here the winds will shift we'll be on this side of it to the northeast. that in conjunction with the higher than normal tides thanks to that supermoon

kevin lemanowicz tells us we can see wind gusts over 20 miles per hour tomorrow. >> yeah not gonna be real brutal wind gusts. we'll see it get up to around 20 miles per hour tomorrow afternoon. but as you wake up tomorrow afternoon, you could see a couple of those. they're coming from the northwest, which is a colder air direction for us, but also a drier air direction. there's no ocean up that here will make it feel cooler certainly but not gonna bring any rain with it, per se. there is a disturbance fighting our way this weekend that could bring a couple of showers. temperatures generally in the 50s, a few 40s out there and off to the northwest there are clouds and showers. looking like they're coming right at us. zoom in with live storm track radar, it is pretty clear. showers staying to our north and not making over the burke shires. showers farther south that have since dried out trying to make that trip down the mountains. not be a bother. however, i mentioned the chance for a few showers this weekend. that looks like both on saturday and sunday. it's a small risk but we're defi

kevin lemanowicz fox 25 when i'm on is the best way to get it on the air. and that sunset was helped because of all the clouds that were coming on through. the sunlight bouncing and playing with the clouds. now the clouds have moved away and it's clear out there until tom these clouds move in along well rainshowers and they will move in to southern new england and tend to dry out. but there's a front in there and that is bringing much colder air into our temperatures in the 40s and low 50. back here some 30 actually showing up, as well. a wide range of temperatures in the northwest and southeast. generally we're in the 40s on average. 30s northwest and near 50 to the south just like it is now, averaging 44 degrees with sunshine. through the day the front cuts pouring in. again note the snowflakes flying in here. we're not talking a ton of snow but cold air that will be good enough to make snow as well as get some snowshowers going. good news for skiers, anyway. clear skies tomorrow evening for friday night football, too, in our game of the week. temperature
