joining me now from our washington bureau is kevin surilli.a lot of analysts are predicting that the resolution will fail in the house. the president is trying to shore up international support overseas. he has said he reserves the right to proceed regardless of the circumstances, but is there any way he could really launch a strike without support from the international community or congress? >> it would be a remarkable turn of events if he did. i think that it would also pose a huge headache for him as he cons into his second term to go against congress's wishes. >> now thursday the "new york times" ran a disturbing photo of syrian opposition forces executing government fighters. how damaging is that to public opinion? >> i think that it speaks to this larger narrative of where exactly do the syrian rebels stand. and there have been reports for months, for a very long time about where exactly the funding for the syrian rebels is coming. not only from the united states, but also from terrorist organizations with perhaps even links to al qaeda
