we'd like to call out kevin truitt and salary lopez for their support as well as bill sanderson for all their work that they've done to increase awareness of students with disabilitied on the s.a.c. and that's going to be one of the focuses for nominated members on the s.a.c. is to have more student representation among students with i.e.p.'s and 504's. and also our felly advisory committees, our collaboration this year has been amazing and as mentioned earlier led to a family alignment and leadership summit. and so thank you to the fellow advisory committee leadership teams, but particularly to georgia brat williams, to danielle williams, to maggie zhou for their support and guidance. and finally, we look forward to seeing you in the fall. our website has changed. we are no longer a .org, we are a .com. i'm sure you have us book marked, so change your book mark, and our e-mail is there in case you have any questions. >> okay. thank you so much for the report. from the commissioners, are there any questions or comments? commissioner norton? >> commissioner norton: thank you, and thank y

we can be intentional, thinking about the literacy work, and i know we've talked in the past to kevin truitt about some of the work that they're doing around literacy and some those in schools and we're able to partner in be in that. and the data coherence and access. we're grateful for the partnership with mr. dickey, but do think as we build this out to include our pacific islander and latin population that we need to have additional support and that there can be somebody that's dedicated to this. we really want to work to show the progress that's been happening and we think that we need a person that's able to track what's happening in communities and make the direct correlation between community partnership and school partn partnership and what makes the difference. as young people are getting support in schools, we don't want to discount the impact of partnership with communities. we think there are great partnerships that need to be elevated and the best way to do that is to have someone assigned for that. so, again, thank you for this opportunity. we're really looking forward to it. i

this update will be presented by our chief of sfusd kevin truitt. [applause] >> good evening, superintendent matthews and commissioners of the board of education. this is your annual report for safe and supportive schools. i'd like to start by framing this area of improvement for the implementation of safe and supportive schools. we believe that if we provide professional development that assists schools in creating and maintaining systems and structures to increase the amount of learning time for students, particularly african american students, and we support teacher-led professional learning communities around building and maintaining a positive school climate and culture as well as provide coaching by trained professionals, and if schools utilize the tiered fidelity inventory as a self-assessment monitoring tool to measure fidelity of implementation, then we will see a decrease of office referrals, suspensions and expulsions which will in turn provide increased instruction time for student, so we will see an increase student performance, and eli
