to sudan are you hopeful that the army and the protesters can come to a peaceful deal and like khalid shaikh in khartoum said a civilian government can be put in place i don't think a civil war is a possibility civilians. don't really have the luxury of getting into a long term armed confrontation with an organized military power. but i don't but i also don't think that the political situation allows for that to happen the military council does need some level of at least legitimacy in order for it to do that in the past when you know the central government in khartoum went to war in darfur so i was court about it and the support of the northern segments of sudanese society but i don't think you have that situation now. i think it is really important that everybody on all sides understand the complexity of political transitions transitions are always complex they are very messy they're very precarious it's very difficult to bring everybody around it common vision so it's important that everyone understand the complexity of transition work towards a peaceful resolution of this this conflict i
