how do we center our kids? and especially the kids that aren't your kids right ones who maybe don't have someone there for them or someone who has the capacity to help them. so i've said in different interviews, delayed the submission of the book because i saw the build back better package which had for the first time a series of policies that would have put us finally in the of all of our peer countries as far as having family leave subsidies for, child care and incomes, subsidies that that shore up and put a floor under child poverty those passed in the house they in the senate they don't have the same constituency but i see that there's movement on the state level. i see that things are happening. california i see that things are happening in virginia. i that portland is put in, you know, not only subsidies for child care, but a living wage. so there is room for this on the state level. there are constituencies for this. seeing care is infrastructure and that's what schools are going to need because they can

several years ago, when we had younger kids, we wanted to teach our kids these ideas. i went on amazon day, i was looking for books that would, you know allow me to talk to my kids about free market type ideas, personal freedom and and there was nothing there was a little bit about the constitution, but there wasn't really anything about some of these more fundamental ideas that the founding fathers really fighting for. so elijah and i got to talk and we're like, well let's actually create something. maybe there's market for it. we did. one book is kind of a labor love, a little test project. a lot of people bought it. and so we've continued from there, we've sold over 4 million books. now we're in 12 languages. we have a cartoon. it's just blowing up quite lot. so it's a clearly the market has said, yes, we need and want this. and so we're continuing to create more books. and the word tuttle, tuttle twins. i knew i wanted a boy and a girl because i wanted it relatable to boys and girls. so we chose twins and it was really a silly process of elimination. we wanted alli

kids and teachers. trust the governor who has already done that work. >> trust the governor who has never spent more money and never gotten fewer results and never put us in a spot where kids are further behind than they are right now. i do not know where this governor gets this slashing by 35%. we have made an economic proposal that is very clear that is on our website. we can absolutely invest in our kids, but we have to make sure we invest in their health care as well. when you go to a doctor's appointment, how long do you wait? you wait longer and longer periods of time. doctors are fleeing the state right now because of bills this dr. -- governor has signed. she raised insurance rates for doctors 900% and that is why you cannot get a doctor for her kids. that is why we have so many issues with health care costs. all of these are intertwined and what we can do is invest and bring people to the state who are going to be critical in making sure we get our education system on track and our medical syst

we were losing kids. mental health, keeping kids out of the school certainly did not help that. what was obvious was parents who had the resources were able to find options. they were able to get that child in a school, whether it was private because they had the resources to do that, or they were able to move to a different area, get their child into a school system where they could learn.. there were a lot of kids that did not have that option, a lot of families. we had over 2000 -- over 200,000 kids drop out in fiscal year 2021. 92% of those kids were on free and reduced lunch. those kids did not have the option. this is not a zero-sum game. there is an opportunity to help all kids and to make our schools stronger. i fundamentally believe that that choice should not only go to kids and families that have the resources, education is the great equalizer. everyone should have that choice. it is not a zero-sum game. there was a superintendent in eastern iowa who said i don't agree with the legislation, but it's passed. i'm going to do everything that i can to make sure that we ha

, particularly kids struggling prior to the pandemic.e data now collected that verifies what i think is likely to be a serious challenge? one of the recommendations you believe need to be made? what you recommend policymakers and schools across the country to to deal with the gap that's built up? >> the studies i've seen or references have been anecdotal as well but mckenzie even before we have come out of the pandemic estimated five months to well over a year learning lost depending on how long a child was out of the classroom and it will be a longitudinal issue, we will have to keep measuring. sweden released a study this week, other than two weeks initially, two to four weeks initially have not close down schools, they went back to school immediately and they determined no learning lost for students and it's concerning even more for students in the u.s. out for a year or more in many cases as we have talked about the ones out at last the longest or in person learning the longest of the ones who can least afford it, the most wevulnerab

and so even though we have lots of kids coming into the hospital for help every day i get to kids sends home as well and we're able to make sure to do that in an effective and safe way to make sure that everybody gets the care that they need. we're definitely seeing two things. the first is that our rsv surge if you will is happening a little bit earlier this year when i look back at the last couple of years. usually we see a pattern where we start to see rsv cases in november, and this year we really saw a real increase in cases earlier than expected in the 1st and 2nd weeks of october, the other interesting piece of this year's strain is that it seems to be affecting older kids a little bit harder than it tends to. and now this isn't to say that this specific strain that's going around is more dangerous or more variable into as we say, but really, what i think is going on here is that the older kids who normal really would have been exposed to lots of viruses. by the time they hit preschool and the last couple of years. we've done a really good job of protecting them. we've kept them

how many kids go to college? how many graduate and all of that, what are they go to school, and what are their earnings potentials? our focus of life is we need to make money. we are taught for 12 years of precollege that your highest value, you're worth is tied to how much money you make. that is dangerous paradigm to instill in young people. and at the same time we remove the spirituality. that is crystals. you forgot world religion -- you have world religion they all the same. we believe in science -- the hard cold facts or whatever. so, unfortunately, there is a trade-off that happens. the children understand that they are just money earners. i don't know about you, but, i gave birth to three children. they are not cash machines. quite the opposite. but i don't expect them to grow up to be cash machines either. so, i think we have adopted this false paradigm. it's a lie. college prep is part of that because college prep -- career readiness, that is not being borne out. we have cage graduating -- we have kids

that's what happened with my two kids. i was talking before about the pressure to make a career choice and pick a master, neither of my kids were ready for that at 18. they actually had to turn the ship around a little bit and really develop their career focus in graduate school, which meant extra education, extra tuition to get their degrees, and i'm lucky that both of my kids are bright and wonderful kids and both have masters degrees. one is a therapist and one is a journalist. they are doing ok, but they're in their late 20's. it has taken them this long to get through the educational system and start their careers, and that is what the environment is like. it is a much more challenging environment these days. >> with everything that is online today, could you have learned what you learned in college online today? without the four-year degree? >> here is the thing, it depends what you mean by learning right? i have learned political theory online. yes, i think so, but you have to remember, i think the college experienc

if you want your kid to learn that, under school choice you can. to schools where they are focused on stem and class and prepare for college and you know less political style of education. it is really should not be that controversial. the money some follow the students not bl blindly funds a system, go where students will be best served and folk like this school board member will take his own advice, if you don't like it leave it without paying double for education, everyone t should have a choice. kennedy: in new jersey spending 20 thousand per student it would be nice to have that money to send your kid to a school that will benbefore the benefit them and your family, and more parents, more states more governors, more legislator are waking tony wake -- legislatures are waking up that is the future. teacher unions built a fortress with money from their membership, a democrat fortress around their public schools, they know that will crumble when people leave, people will leave when they rerealize school choice is better for them and in particular
