kiet do is at the scene with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. we are live at the dodge dealership in dublin. this is just off dublin boulevard and 680 southbound in the city of dublin. this involves an alameda county sheriff's deputy. it started at about 1:30 this morning when a female sergeant came across a suspicious person who was walking about the area here. she talked to him. they somehow got into some sort of argument and then a struggle. then she suffered injuries to her head. he used some sort of weapon, not sure exactly what it was. they say it could have been a stick or rock or something like that, of that nature but she suffered injuries and called for help at which point she drew her gun and fired at least one shot and the suspect died on the scene. the deputy has been taken to the hospital. her injuries are unknown at this point. the body is still out here on the property of the dealership and investigators are trying to gather evidence and figure out what happened here. a short time ago, we saw the alameda county sheriff himself sh

kiet do has the latest. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we're actually live just off of the bascomb avenue exit here. behind me is 880 northbound. this whole area was shut down for 3 hours today. this is why. you can see all this white stuff on the ground here. this is hail that fell overnight and collected here maybe a quarter to at most a half inch little pellets of it and this was a problem at about 2 a.m. when it caused icy conditions at this stretch of 880 causing a wreck. a chp responded to the wreck and then he was hit by an oncoming car, suffered some head injuries and a broken leg, as well. we'll have some of that video for you in the next hour. it's pretty large, an 8th of an inch in diameter. it just stopped hailing here a little while ago. there is a lot of ice on the road. most of it is melted on the asphalt. what you're shearing is the stuff that's actually stuck -- what you're seeing here is the stuff that's actually stuck on the grass and dirt. 880 is open in both directions after being shut down for three hours. we'll have
