kpix 5's kiet do with a message police have for the wanted man. >> reporter: crime scene technicians were out here in east san jose all night long, police finally wrapped it up here after spending fennel hours at the scene. we pick up this story with some dispatch audio recorded last night about a police chase. >> okay we have shots fired. suspect has a female occupant in the vehicle, per our last information -- [ inaudible ] i'm at 37th -- third haven court. got shots fired and one suspect down. >> reporter: and of course 187 is police code for homicide. now investigators believe the man they shot dead last night was about to kill the woman who was in the car with him. s.w.a.t. officers have been following the man for some time and he had a warrant for his arrest. and in connection with a grisly homicide last week. the police say the man realized he was being followed by police and led them on a chase back to his home on kirk haven court where he crashed his car. investigators say he jumped out of the car and took off running. when the man appeared to reach for his waistband the off
