kpix 5's kiet do reports from near that intersection where that crash happened just a little bit ago. kiet. >> reporter: yes. good morning, you know, we're live here on the scene of an active investigation as chp are clearing the scene here and combing through this vehicle for more evidence. but what we have heard so far is that this started as a car that was speeding that white honda that you see there was speeding in -- at a rate of more than 100 miles an hour. this is going 101 through gilroy. that's what prompted them to try to pull this car over. when they tried, the car just kept on going. it went north on 101 into the south bay and the south part of the county. went on 101 on to 880, 237, highway 85, highway 71. this is where it crashed just off moorpark and 280. and it turns out that the vehicle then turned over rolled over a couple of times. the driver was gravely injured taken to the hospital where that driver died. the female passenger did survive and is talking with officers right now. there was one patrol car here. if you pan here to the left, this suv, chp suv, actually
