kpix 5's kiet do reports from near that intersection where that crash happened just a little bit ago. kiet. >> reporter: yes. good morning, you know, we're live here on the scene of an active investigation as chp are clearing the scene here and combing through this vehicle for more evidence. but what we have heard so far is that this started as a car that was speeding that white honda that you see there was speeding in -- at a rate of more than 100 miles an hour. this is going 101 through gilroy. that's what prompted them to try to pull this car over. when they tried, the car just kept on going. it went north on 101 into the south bay and the south part of the county. went on 101 on to 880, 237, highway 85, highway 71. this is where it crashed just off moorpark and 280. and it turns out that the vehicle then turned over rolled over a couple of times. the driver was gravely injured taken to the hospital where that driver died. the female passenger did survive and is talking with officers right now. there was one patrol car here. if you pan here to the left, this suv, chp suv, actually

kpix 5's kiet do joins us now to explain what the cdc plans to do. kiet. >> reporter: good morning.e are live here at the santa clara county department of public health and these guys are the ones who officially invited the cdc to come here. and, you know, the palo alto unified school district has been trying for years to prevent teen suicides with no success. the superintendent even going as far as to say that suicides are a contagion saying that one can spur another and then another and so on. there have been several so- called suicide clusters over the years. last year, four students from palo alto high school killed themselves within a six-month span. another suicide cluster happened in 2009 when four students from gunn high school killed themselves also within six months. palo alto suicide rate is up to five times the national average. paige parsons took her daughter out of gunn high school after just 2.5 years. >> it has a wonderful reputation for academic excellence but there's so much tutoring, um, behind the scenes. there's so much focus on nothing but academics that the ki

kpix 5's kiet do on what this means for bay area consumers. >> reporter: seafood loves, fishermen and restaurants in the bay area could soon be hurting because of the tookic bloom. some of the samples were taken in half moon bay and with the season starting in a couple of days, it does not look good. take a look at this map that shows you just how far this territory extends. according to the california department of health, they say the crabs have tested positive for domoic acid from oregon to the southern border of santa barbara county. if you eat them, you might regret it. domoic acid is a naturally occurring toxin related to the bloom of a plant called pseudo- nitzschia. it cause vomiting, diarrhea, cramps and headaches for days. on the severe side it could kill you! marine experts have no idea what caused it and when it might go away. as a result, the state is recommending the delay of the crabbing season and that the rock crab fishery be closed. this is devastating news for crabbers who come in from all over to make half their income for the year. >> the public should know at thi

kpix 5's keit do is in santa clara with more on what we're learning about that attacker. kiet, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the young man who was a quiet student here at wilcox high school who just graduated a few months ago was nothing like the monster investigators say went on that stabbing rampage down at uc-merced. now, when they conducted an autopsy on faisal mohammad they found a manifesto with a list of people he wanted to harm and planned to tie them up and reading a scripted monologue aloud. he also wrote he was going to try to ambush a police officer and get his gun. the whole plan unraveled when the victims fought back. what's more, in that backpack, investigators found two clear bags full of petroleum jelly. >> it looks likes his intention was to cut a hole in the bag and squirt it on the floor as a slip and slide. >> reporter: back here at wilcox high school the principal remembered faisal as a good student who liked science but wasn't uninvolved with school activities. former classmates said he was quiet and faded into the background. >> really quiet
