weather channel meteorologist kim cunningham is tracking it for us. kim. >> lester, we're watching this line develop now. we think over the next 36 hours a lot of you will have the potential for hail and damaging winds. we're watching this bow echo move off to the east. already some warnings into parts of illinois. we think that will spread east as the night goes on. if you live in indianapolis, it could get to you probably by 9:00 tonight, heading south now into parts of kentucky into southern ohio. it should weaken as it gets this far east. forecast for tonight severe storms, large hail, damaging winds, even heavy rain with some of these storms. now, tomorrow we watch another strong disturbance moving east. and as it does interacts with this cold front going to see more storms and a lot of moisture moving northward develop. and this is going to mean severe weather not just for cincinnati but now we're getting to the east coast, including d.c., new york city and into boston. that continues on monday as well. so please be vigilant the next couple of da

. >>> for the path of the storms, let's bring in weather channel meteorologist kim cunningham. kim? >> we've had already over 160 reports of severe weather today. look at this radar. look at all the is severe thunderstorm warnings and tornado warnings we're seeing here in parts of tennessee. the watches we mention earlier in effect for almost all of the ohio, kentucky, even parts of north carolina until 9:00, even into pittsburgh. severe thunderstorm watch here and for detroit. so tore natnadoes are possible this as well. here's the forecast for tonight. possibly seeing severe weather ramping up in eastern pennsylvania here later on today. the watch may be expected there. so watch the cold front move east. tomorrow, behind it will cool down. ahead of it, still enough instability that we may see more severe thunderstorms in the morning hours especially in new england, including boston and higher elevations and a few isolate storms behind it. the southeast is also looking at severe storms as that front continues to push off the south. we're going to see a much bigger cooldown for ever

joining me now is kim cunningham. why are we seeing this type of freak weather all around the country right now and when will it sub side? >> luke, i have to say it is different to see this front coming in july. that's definitely somewhat rare. we had a very active pattern in july so far. these cold fronts coming all the way into the south in july, you don't see that too often. this is the one that helped bring severe weather, over 160 wind damage reports yesterday. today we've had 16 reports of severe weather. most in the northeast with the tornado around revere as well. to the south we're seeing storms pop up in georgia and alabama and hail and damaging winds will be the big threat there. the radar showing more storms tonight, actual aly few warnings to the west of boston. earlier we had a tornado warning with this cell right here, this thunderstorm but now it is a severe thunderstorm warning. hail and damaging winds the threat -- almost fell here. this watch in effect until 8:00 tonight. then we're watching in the

for more on all that, we're joined by the weather channel's kim cunningham. >> yes, we've picked up over five inches of rain in some parts of chicago. the taste of chicago canceled today. that's how bad it was. we had the heavy rain. now we're worried about severe weather. then we'll be worried about the cold. let's show you what's coming together for this. we have this dip in the jet stream. that will allow the cold air to come southward but also to actually get some energy to the front. we're already starting to see some thunderstorms developing ahead of it. we could see more severe weather into chicago later on tonight. so from kansas city to chicago, we'll be watching indianapolis this evening. then once that front goes through, the next one comes in. then we'll watch the cold air. we're talking 30 degrees, a big change for you guys. 10 on 20 degrees below average. detroit, houston, cincinnati. we'll see the temperatures only in the 60s for your highs including chicago by tuesday. 69 degrees, detroit at 72. so the cold air is on the way. it looks like it will last all the way through
