how could tie kimberly i ask you this all the time but i always think it's worth reiterating when we hear from the senate has congresspeople how important is that how much influence how much power do they have because it's all well and good of the words of strong but it comes down to the actions as well. well congress controls the purse strings in the united states so it has tremendous power it is a check on executive power one that has been waiting most largely that's a whole separate to big but to tell you the truth there really is we need to underscore the fact that when donald trump speaks he's not the final word this is not an imperial presidency so the us senate particularly the most powerful body in the u.s. congress has a number of avenues that it can pursue not only can it pursue in terms of sanctions but it can also fundamentally change the u.s. saudi relationship and it appears that there is as you said in your intro willingness on the part of both democrats and republicans members of the president's own party i mean some of the comments coming out of the u.s. senate are a

so kimberly, do you think this was a strategy meant to distract from the midterms or is there somethinge? >> i think what we saw during that press conference as is often the case when the president gives these occasional free wheeling press conferences is that he becomes very transparent. and he makes pretty clear what he's not happy about. and despite the fact that he leading up to the elections said he was focussing on the senate and really not paying attention to the house, the loss of those seats in the house clearly irked him, and he wanted to vent that in some way, and he did that by blaming the republicans in these districts that lost, that flipped to democratic, despite the fact that in a lot of these districts, one reason they flipped to democratic was as a referendum against donald trump, so the fact that these republican candidates weren't embracing him weren't the reason that they lost. they lost despite those head winds from the other side. and even with the attacks on members of the press, we know that he goes to that frequently. but in particular, not just the attack on j
