nbc bay area's kimberly terry at santa clara sheriff's department with an update. kimberly. >> diane. police are trying to track down the suspects. trying to get a more detailed description of them. police tell us it was a neighbor who called 911 after hearing shots fired east of gilroy. >> upset, family and friends of a man killed in gill roy saturday morning, gathered close to the hope where he was found shot multiple times. police say the man whose name has the not yet been released in his in 60s. >> unclear if it is gang related. >> the santa clara county sheriff's department got the call at 9:00 a.m. leading deputies to the home on the block near ferguson road. >> this is not the norm. unincorporated gilroy. >> police are saying they're looking at two suspects. the area has been searched to no avail. >> two suspects. police spent the day interviewing witnesses and hope to have more information on the suspects soon. any one with information on what happened this morning is asked to call the santa clara county, sheriffs department. live in san jose. kimberly terr

that's where nbc bay area's kimberly terry is with more for us. llo, kimberly. >> reporter: hello, diane. the woman says she knows how lucky she is. every pay day she comes to the store on the 1000 block to buy a couple scratchers. on friday she said she had a good feeling something was going to happen and splurged. after paying bills, she spent her last $40 on four $10 tickets. she went to her car and started scratching. on the fourth one she hit the jackpot. $1 million at first she was in disbelief. then tears. emily, whose name we're not going to release to protect her privacy, says the money couldn't come at a better time. a couple years ago she spent two months in a coma on a ventilator and was told she might not make it. she obviously did but has a lot of hospital bills as a result. >> i've got so many medical expenses and all of my paychecks go to paying kaiser and to live here and everything. just things like this just don't happen to me. you know? so i don't know. it's just -- it's a miracle. >> reporter: emily who has been living with her

nbc bay area's kimberly terry is in union city where the season might have to be suspended. kimberly? >> reporter: diane, that union city softball league hoping for a winning season instead suffering a major loss just a week before tryouts. they discovered $14,000 worth of equipment is gone from a storage unit at contempo park. the union city softball association used the storage unit to put all their bats, balls, bases and other items. in the break in was discovered on friday morning. the league says they have enough to hold tryouts which begin next weekend but not enough equipment to start the new season, which just begins in a matter of weeks. >> yeah. we need it to play. so if we don't have it we can't play. >> i'm sure they don't think about that. they don't think about the consequences that they're putting upon us and the kids here in the city. so i don't know. i don't want to try and think about that because it just makes me angry. >> i don't understand why they would steal out of nowhere. especially right before the season starts. >> reporter: the nonprofit league ser

kimberly terry has more. >> i had to call my dad.id they shot my brother. >> reporter: 5-year-old gabriel martinez jr. was shot just after 5:30 friday night at his father's taco truck. >> everywhere his dad went, he went. >> reporter: gabe rriel was jus few feet from his father. that's when police say a man who had either just ordered or was waiting to pulled out a gun and opened fire. >> the little boy was just playing around. out of nowhere, he hears this gunshot. my dad's like, don't get scared. when he checked, it was a little boit that had been shot. >> reporter: after the shooting, police say the gunman got into a car with a woman and took off. >> i don't know if they're drugged or drunk or just plain dumb or they don't care about people's lives. people like that don't even care about themselves, i believe. >> this has to stop. >> reporter: gabriel is the third child to be killed from gunfire in oakland in five months. in august, a 3-year-old was killed by a stray bullet. earlier this month, another child was taken off life sup

kimberly terry is in oakland with the story for us. >> reporter: that's right, diane. tonight a service was held to serve all of the lives lost to violence this year. this cross at this church here in oakland at the catholic church is meant to pay homage to their lives. included in those killed are three children, the most recent homicide happening last night. 5-year-old gabrielle martinez jr. was just feet from his father when he was shot last night. the 5-year-old was shot and killed by bay man who police say had just ordered food or was waiting to order at the food trushg. after the shooting, the suspect took off in i kr with a woman. the police are trying to identify the pair. they have called in extra resources. officers and those who also work in the crime lab to follow up on leads and also on evidence. >> we want the community to know that the police department is taking this seriously. we're going to do everything in our power to find the person that's responsible for killing gabriel gabriel. >> reporter: today in honor of those wkilled in oakland, the mayor sa
