related to the kincaid fire. that report notes around 9:20 pm last night we became aware of a transmission level outage. in the area of the fire. when one of our field workers patrolled the area this morning cal fire personnel on the site brought to his attention and our attention to what appears to be a broken jumper on one of our transmission towers. a jumper is simply a piece of wire that jumps the conductor over the insulator. cal fire had taped off the area around this base of the tower and is investigating the subject. we are continuing to investigate. filing the eir does not tell us where the fire started. and the fact we filed it and we are investigating does not tell us what caused the fire or where it started. cal fire the experts in this withdrawal that ultimate conclusion. reported our findings to the regulator and are sharing it with you out of each sense of transparency. some people might ask why the transmission line was on. the transmission line was not among the lines we deenergized in sonoma cou

here are the areas under mandatory evacuation orders because of the kincaid fire. the entire town of geyserville and areas east stretching past highway 128 into black mountain and mercuriville. cloverdale, geysers, geyser red winery, alexander valley, moody lane and pine flat roads. there are three open evacuation centers. one at the sonoma county fair grounds in santa rosa, that's available for you and your large animals. a second is across the street at the veterans memoril building. this is where you can take small animals and pets. the smird is healthird is heald community center. >>> evacuees have taken their livestock with them to the sonoma fair grounds. >> about 45 animals have been brought to the fair grounds so far. this pig, matilda, was getting picked up by her owners to get moved to another location. the site is base camp for cal fire and sonoma sheriffs to work together. >> the focus right now is on getting the fire out. the winds have subsided, we're anticipating significant winds again this weekend. so we're bringing a ton of firefighters into this

to start the kincaid fire. we do know a couple minutes ago pg&e came forward to say it did have a problem last night. chopper 5 was over the area with the fire was first reported. near the geysers geothermal plans. pg in the notify state regulars this afternoon it did not cut power the high-voltage transmission lines in that area. last night around 9:20 pm utility reported trouble one of those lines. only seven minutes later the first calls went out of a major fire. >>> as we look at more live pictures from chopper 5. pg&e said it did not cut power to those transmission lines. that is even though these voltage distribution lines are part of the public safety power shutdown minutes ago. we heard from pg&e ceo bill johnson as to why. >>> transmission line was not among the lines we deenergized in sonoma county. transmission lines in the area remained energized during the wind event. consistent with our established protocols and procedures. in other words they did not meet the conditions that we forecast for trans

as we mentioned 13,000 firefighters are fighting the kincaid fire 24 hours a day. there are many evacuation centers open tonight. the petaluma fairgrounds are included. the santa rosa fairground is open to horses and livestock. >>> live at the santa rosa evacuation center, how is it looking there? there are many families here. what is going on? >> yes, this morning it was quiet but by the afternoon the parking lot started to fill up. the red cross has said of 200 beds inside and as brian mentioned is is for pets and livestock and large animals and this location quickly is filling up. most of evacuees are headin soto stay with family and friends in the marin and temperatures area. southbound 101 was packed much of the day. families that don't have too many resources are staying at one of the three sonoma county evacuation centers. >> we left everything behind. you can replace these things. reporter: it is mating. i've never experienced anything like this. >> reporter: the centers have counselors and doctors for those that forgot to evacuate with prescription drugs.

surrounding the kincaid fire. the sheriff's office acknowledges this is a stressful time for many members in our community. it brings back memories from two years ago. we want to assure every community member at the sonoma county sheriff's office is in your neighborhoods right now being affected. we have over 50 deputies on duty. overnight we will have 26 deputies. protecting the neighborhoods that have been evacuated. and directing folks on how to evacuate. i want to address a little bit of rumor control. there has been posting on social media that the evacuation order has been lifted. that is not accurate. all evacuation orders and warnings remain in effect. currently the evacuation order in the town of geyserville in the hills east of geyserville up affects 2000 people. we want to continue to emphasize we want people to heed the evacuation warnings. leave the area. we have plenty of deputies in the area to protect your property. we will assist you in your evacuation. currently we are holding all evacuation rout

how long does it take to get the kincaid fire under control? you can see plenty of haze in the skies. it might be tough to see it. mount diablo is in that shot. you have to look under the live bug. as bad as that looks air quality sensors are doing okay. on the ground thanks to the offshore flow we still have. most of the bad smoke is being taken off the coast. our next headline would you believe we will stop talking about fire weather. we are going to start talking about a freeze warning. look at the north bay shaded in red. north bay valleys in sonoma county. a freeze warning in effect from 2 am tomorrow until nine. i'm going to show you the specific numbers on that. we will talk about why it is only sonoma county and why it seems like the north bay keeps getting picked on. >>> words of encouragement from governor newsom today. thousands of firefighters tackled the wildfires all across the state.>> we are battling these things. we are making progress. we will work through this but we have all the resources and assets at our disposal we need.

if you are in the north bay you're getting all of that smoke from the kincaid fire. looking ahead to tomorrow we have another spare the air alert in effect. moderates unhealthy air quality with those offshore winds that are expected tomorrow. that will push most smoke from the kincaid and the grizzly fires into the rest of the bay area. we are not going to get any relief anytime soon. maybe by the end of the week we will start to get that onshore flow. in the meantime i will be tracking the air quality as well as the offshore winds starting early tomorrow at 4:30 am. >>> the west contra costa unified school district since students home early today. concerns grew over the air quality. nearly 30,000 students were dismissed by noon. the school personnel remained on campus but staying with the kids who could not be picked up. all the afterschool programs and the sporting events those have been canceled. the main concern for district officials is the lack of filtration systems to keep the air clean and some schools. >>> you go to school and that is our concern.>> we still
