an additional 6 to 8 inches of snow around the tahoe city area and up to 18 inches of snow near kingvale watching those conditions and talk about bay area rain coming up. >>> cinthia, you're looking at 50 and 80. how is it looking? >> right now i was checking with caltrans to see what was going on as far as the chain controls. there are just a few to mention. what was very popular on their page was all of the alerts saying ice and snow, drive with caution, slow down. so let's see what's happening right now. if you're taking 50, there was a notice that there is chain control after kirkwood, and that's limiting you to 25 miles an hour. make sure you have the chains and you're driving at that speed limit, and also it wouldn't be a bad idea to carry emergency kits, things like warm blankets and food if you do get stuck up there for multiple hours, possibly an extended period of time. you don't want the kids to run out of snacks. we also have chain control as you make your way on southbound 89 around tahoe city. that's also limiting you to 25 miles an hour. we're going to continue to see what

we've been looking at this 80 at kingvale, uh, shot all morning long.>> good job. caltrans going through there. but here's the deal. more weather is coming. so things change quickly. and we did just check the caltrans website. and chains are required on eastbound 80. that's from cisco grove in placer county to truckee. right now if you're going 50 and you're headed to south lake tahoe, no chains required there. that of course, is the other main highway linking the bay area to the tahoe area. but again, as this picture circles, we know that they're working hard. >> yeah,oked like that shot was stalled, but the cold was good. conditions yes, exactly. the little circle of destiny was was going there, but i like it. it certainly looked much better for caltrans crews. certainly getting out there, clearing that roadway, we saw a lot of slush and snow and ice and roberto, more to come. yes you nailed it. >> it's been a rain, sleet, slush snow mix. and now here comes the big storm. and we are anticipating up to three full feet of snow and the highest elevation.
