abc7 news reporter kira klapper joins us live from the scene. kira, the latest details? >> well, the latest, carolyn, i got off the phone with the chp officer, and he tells me that they are hopeful that the four surviving passengers and the limo driver can answer many unanswered questions for them, help them piece together how and why and where this fire started in the limo late last night. we do have photos to show you of the limo as it is being taken over by flames. someone driving by snapped the photos and we were able to get them. you can see the stretch white limo being taken over. sky 7hd shows the scene of the wreckage just after 10:00 last night. the limo was carrying nine women from alameda to foster city when smoke started coming out of the back of the limo. as the driver pulled over the smoke quickly turned to flames. he did escape because he was getting out to see what was going on. four of the passengers also got out quickly, but the other five women were trapped inside and killed. >> i was trying to help, but when there is smoke and there is fire, some peop

kira klapper joins us live near the starting point.ira, we are talking about the beefed-up security this time around? >> beefed-up security indeed. good morning. we're are a block from the start to bay to breakers. there are cameras added now to the start line and the finish line. that is new this morning. as you can imagine, security is of the utmost important. this is the first major event san francisco has put on since the boston marathon last month. abc7 news was there last night as security was being beefed-up. they were putting up more barricades along the course of the 12k race. there are added security measures like backpacks, bags larger than 8.5 by 11 by 4 inches are now banned. people who hop the fence and try to get into the race, we know hundreds and thousands do that each year. if you don't have a bid number this year you will be taken out of the race. annual spectators may be a little upset about that, but they are glad will a lighthearted addition. more porta pot tis. >> the bathrooms here got pretty gross and it wasn't
