kira. hey, laura and marcus, good morning to you.of the races are still too close to call early this morning, but we do have a few updates. a look at the current returns for you. proposition five, which would allow local bonds for affordable housing and public infrastructure to close to call just yet. just 51% of precincts reporting. but it is leaning towards failing. that's because californians don't want borrowed money to be repaid with higher property taxes. prop 55. prop five. pardon me, does need 55% of voter approval to pass. and it's currently at 44%. california voters, meanwhile, are rejecting proposition 33, which would have allowed cities and counties to control rents on any type of housing that includes apartments, condos, single family homes. right now, san francisco and los angeles are under rent control, but there are limitations because of the costa hawkins act. under that act, rent control cannot be applied to homes nor apartments built after 1995, and most people are voting no on that one. and another proposition too

i'm kira klapper.a county sheriff's office tells us that someone e-mailed the bomb threat to the registrar of voters office on friday night, but no one saw it until yesterday morning, when workers called the sheriff's office. deputies moved in to evacuate several buildings. we have over 100 workers inside, and these are all extra help county employees. and also our permanent staff. and we just had to drop everything and made sure to evacuate the building as soon as possible and make make sure everything was like locked and secured. ultimately, authorities say they found nothing suspicious. after that, roughly five hour evacuation, employees were allowed back inside to continue their work. they say the holdup will not impact their ability to certify the election. santa clara county has about 193,000 ballots left to count, out of roughly 580,000 ballots cast. we're going to turn now to cinthia pimentel. a quick look at that chilly microclimate forecast. good morning carol. good morning everyone. yeah, ch

horace kira elementary behind me. joseph, george middle next door. and 11 other schools, a total of 13 schools in the alum rock school district. they're on a list of campuses that might close. today, the superintendent is expected to whittle that list down to ten. ten schools, eight of which would be closed. two more that would be consolidated after this school year. the school district says these closures are necessary because of declining enrollment. unfortunately, the problem is not unique to alum rock. both oakland and san francisco unified are having internal battles over closing schools. berryessa united in san jose plans to close three, and franklin mckinley, also in san jose, says at least five of its schools could be gone at the end of the school year. the superintendent says his district lost 40% of its student body since 2011 because of a declining birth rate and families leaving the bay area to escape the high cost of living. a number of students have declined across the state by about 6%, so this is not something that is isolated to a sc
