abc7 news reporter kira klapper joins us live from the scene. kira, the latest details? >> well, the latest, carolyn, i got off the phone with the chp officer, and he tells me that they are hopeful that the four surviving passengers and the limo driver can answer many unanswered questions for them, help them piece together how and why and where this fire started in the limo late last night. we do have photos to show you of the limo as it is being taken over by flames. someone driving by snapped the photos and we were able to get them. you can see the stretch white limo being taken over. sky 7hd shows the scene of the wreckage just after 10:00 last night. the limo was carrying nine women from alameda to foster city when smoke started coming out of the back of the limo. as the driver pulled over the smoke quickly turned to flames. he did escape because he was getting out to see what was going on. four of the passengers also got out quickly, but the other five women were trapped inside and killed. >> i was trying to help, but when there is smoke and there is fire, some peop

kira klapper joins us live near the starting point. ra, we are talking about the beefed-up security this time around? >> beefed-up security indeed. good morning. we're are a block from the start to bay to breakers. there are cameras added now to the start line and the finish line. that is new this morning. as you can imagine, security is of the utmost important. this is the first major event san francisco has put on since the boston marathon last month. abc7 news was there last night as security was being beefed-up. they were putting up more barricades along the course of the 12k race. there are added security measures like backpacks, bags larger than 8.5 by 11 by 4 inches are now banned. people who hop the fence and try to get into the race, we know hundreds and thousands do that each year. if you don't have a bid number this year you will be taken out of the race. annual spectators may be a little upset about that, but they are glad will a lighthearted addition. more porta pot tis. >> the bathrooms here got pretty gross and it wasn't

kira klapper joins us live from the mission district. ra, it is always quite the party. >> it is, carolyn. and this parade is a spectacle to be sure. it starts at 9:30 this morning. 400,000 people are expected to attend. if you want to come, if you want to aroid it, we have the parade route. look at this. 24th and bryant, the parade does a sort of half circle west on 24th, from harrison to mission. and then north on mission all the way from 24th to 17th. we have video from previous parades as a dazzling display showcasing latin american and cribbial cultural arts and traditions. it is the largest celebration on the west coast, now in its 35th year. eight blocks of the mission district are closed in addition to this parade route so you should know harrison street is closed from 16th all the way to 24th for a street fair hundreds if not thousands of people crammed in there yesterday for food, music and local arts and crafts vendors. this year's theme is carnaval harlem shake. and all the fun and festivities end at 6:00 tonight. come down an

abc7 news reporter kira klapper is monitoring developments. >> four siblings are dead, the youngest is 2-year-old boy and his three-year-old sister killed this this raging fire as it tore through the home last night in potsville, pennsylvania, northwest of philadelphia. the fire was so strong the floors and the radio of the home collapsed keeping firefighters from going in to make rescues the fire chief said the crews proceeded with caution because of all of the damage. five were injured distinguishing the flames it took an hour to get the fire under control and it was not enough am the fire was out they found the victims' somebodies inside the home. crews were unable to save four children, their father and aunt, the father's sister. in addition to the toddler boy and girl killed were a seven-year-old provide and 8-year-old sister. their mother was not home at the time. penn state police and firefighters remain at the home this morning investigating the cause of the fire. >> new details on the murder of 8-year-old leila fowler. school counselors are made available today after the commu

kira klapper is in the hometown of aaron hern in martinez. >> good morning, a great morning here in martinezs aaron hern's 12th birthday and he is home to celebrate with friends and family and the whole community is thrilled. he was one of youngest victims of the bombing standing by the finish line to cheer on his mother when the second bomb went off. it has been a whirlwind since the april 15th day. he was hit in the leg with shrapnel and had two surgeries in boston and on wednesday he was released from a hospital taking the first step the next day but the road to recovery will be a long one with 100 staples in his leg we and it is not clear when he will return to class at martinez junior high school or to the baseball team. >> as an athlete you know there is nothing like your own bed and to be with family and friends, i am sure that is great. >> several fundraisers were held last week at the cafe and the owners donated an entire week work of sales to the family with a fun run over the weekend where friends raised $4,000ed. the family wants to celebrate his birthday in private today and wil
