i'm kira klapper. cinthia pimentel joins us with a quick look at our microclimate forecast and, boy, you predicteds it last weekend. hot in the beginning of the week and then we saw a massive cool down. >> i know. yesterday definitely was sweater weather, pumpkin spice latte. this morning, i don't blame you if you want to stay in bed a couple of more hours. waking up overlooking san francisco. low 60s there, and lots of cloudy skies even over on into marin county. down here in san jose, also cloudy skies as we take a look overseeing city hall there and wake up to 63 degrees down here in the south bay, and this is all because of a low pressure system that has dropped into the bay area. it's bringing cooler conditions. some clouds. even some spotty rain chances. right now we're seeing some of that linger through marin county upwards towards santa rosa, too, and a few showers over vallejo and fairfield. most of that activity hanging over the sierras. plans to head there this weekend be careful over 80 and

i'm kira klapper. meteorologist rob mayeda is in for cinthia. you basically should have slept here last night, you were here until 11:30. >> 24 hours of weather coverage. and the weather is nice and comfortable, but a little chilly by september standards. san jose with low clouds. cool start to the day with temperatures in the 70s inland today. and then later this week, fall officially gets started as we head into friday night. here's a look at this morning. a lot of low clouds. high clouds moving in from the south as we head through the afternoon. so morning temperatures, which are starting off in the upper 50s and low 60s. we'll eventually climb towards the low 70s by around lunchtime today for the tri-valley areas south of san jose. but the highs which ought to be in the mid 80s inland, how about only 77 degrees in livermore. 76 in san jose. upper 60s in san francisco. those temperatures start to warm up in that seven-day forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> rob, see you soon. >>> we have developing news that we brought to you as breaking

i'm kira klapper. meteorologist rob mayeda is in for cinthia and joins us with a look at our microclimate forecast as we look forward to hopefully better weather on labor day. >> we'll see more sunshine tomorrow, but this morning starting off with clouds and muggy. 65 degrees, light rain showers off to the south and east of san jose. seeing it there on the radar view. more significant rain from sacramento up toward the sierra. that is a location that will have the heaviest showers. for the bay area, mostly cloudy, a few sprinkles here and there, and a continuation of the high temperatures we saw yesterday. temperatures inland in the valleys in the mid 70s today. closer to the upper 60s around san francisco and 71 in oakland. so as we move out towards the sierra and into nevada where you have burning man black rock desert, we have to watch this area closely through the late morning and early afternoon hours. forecast brings more heavy rain and the potential of thunderstorms into nevada. this part of the

[ laughter ] >> yeah, it was mainly focused down to the south bay as we forecasted. and more of that activity through the central coast this morning and today, a bit of a different story, although we are starting out with dense fog blanketing the bay bridge. be careful with changes in visibility as you head out the door. san jose waking up to a bit chillier conditions and some cloud cover in the south bay. that visibility is a concern right now, mainly forming in the north bay. navoto, santa rosa, less than half a mile of visibility. so be careful with changing conditions. less of the cloud cover as we go into the middle of the day. along the water, low to upper 80s for the inland valleys. we'll hang onto summer just a little bit longer. >> cinthia, thanks. >>> this m

i'm in for kira klapper.s and solutions for some of the town's biggest issues. the event, dubbed town talk, was hosted by the mayor at castle mont high school. it's part of the city wide effort to engage neighbors and help shape policy. among the issues discussed, homelessness, housing, and community safety. this comes as business owners and residents have called for the mayor to do more to address killings, robberies and other crimes that are surging. the mayor says the city is doing all it can to protect businesses and residents. she says her efforts are still ramping up, including adding chp officers to patrol streets, installing new cameras, and improving the 911 dispatch center, as well as expanding police foot patrols. the mayor's office says the information will guide the state of the city coming up in october. >>> as we have b telling you all weekend, parts of highway 87 are now closedn the south bay as caltrans works on pavement repairs. all of the north bound lanes of 87 are shut down between julian
