according to the chicago sun times, senator mark kirk has been upgraded to fair condition. you may remember the story he suffered a stroke over a week ago. he is being treated at northwestern memorial hospital. he has gone through a series of procedures to control the swelling of the brain according to senator kirk's staff. he has a good chance of a full mental recovery from his stroke. he may have limited use of his left limb and may have facial paralysis. somebody who knows what it is like to suffer from a stroke paid tribute to his calling. senator tim johnson is a senator from south dakota. he returned to the senate after suffering a stroke a couple of years ago. here is what he had to say earlier today. >> before we begin, i would like to send my best wishes to senator mark kirk for a speedy recovery. senator kirk is a valued member of this committee and he is a ranking member of the sub committee in appropriations which i chair. i have no doubt that with his strong will and determination, he will be back at work as soon as humanly possible. our thoughts and prayers ar
