chief kirkpatrick also talked about recent protests in the city. says protests are a part of our american democracy... but they should never result in damage or injury. there are widespread fears of immigration raids among undocumented immigrants across the bay area... and now a local group is taking action. "siren" is an immigration non-profit based in san jose. they have established a rapid response network after recent immigration sweeps. the group will send text messages which will alert the community if sweeps are happening. it will also bring together immigration attorneys and community activists. siren is also building a network of temporary shelters or safe houses for undocumented immigrants around the bay area. the city of los angeles is now one of two finalists to host the 20-24 summer olympics. budapest has withdrawn it's name from consideration. that leaves los angeles and paris as the only remaining candidates. the international olympic committee will select the home city in september. l-a has hosted the olympics twice before in 19-32
