what do you make of that kirsten?i think that there has been a lot of good news, retail sales rupp. the last unemployment numbers were good and i agree with jonah i think most people look for and it don't see it going gang busters, steady improvement but not really turning around completely. in this kind of economic crisis that's not that surprising. the question is whether or not the obama administration can convince people look, just don't change teams right now because we have got you on the right trajectory. it's just going to take a little time to get there. >> they predict that the unemployment rate will be at 8.4%. probably around the november election. that's still not a great number but he if he is showing that we are moving in the right direction, does the president have a strong argument, charles, for keeping him around? >> you could have a slight upward trajectory it's really a flat trajectory. if you go to 8.4% of unemployment. that's really in a range that has never reelected a president since, i think,

what's the power of those images, kirsten? >> well, i think in terms of the coverage of this one, one thing i wish we would have seen more of is a background and explanation of what we were watching, puzzled are they crying, not crying, do we know. >> there were a the lot of people foreign policy experts who were offering their opinions on blogs that didn't work into the mainstream media so much which is it's complicated than we can get into here, but basically some of the people actually have been brain washed, some people are doing it out of fear and some people, you know, actually believe this he was taking care of them and stockholm syndrome. a lot of different explanations for it. >> and they don't call it the hermit kingdom for nothing. >> exactly, and i think a couple of comment taters who did make it on to at least fox news that i saw, note that had we know so little about north korea that this is really an absence of intelligence story, and the fact that after all of this time, we can't do better. we don't even know f

is that a smart, smart posture, kirsten?sident expending that much time on newt gingrich. i mean, i certainly think that it would be unwise for him to do that if he did because he's in a much better position running against newt gingrich. certainly, the white house believes that, and the expectation is still that romney will be the nominee and that romney is a more difficult candidate to beat. so it makes more sense for the president to be spending time on romney, in my opinion. jon: well, and romney for his part originally ignored all of the other challengers in the field, but now, judy, he seems to be taking on newt gingrich pretty directly. >> well, he finally has to. i mean, he was completely disappearing act, a no-show from a lot of the normal to and fro of this campaign. i mean, ben smith of politico said that he was in a mittness protection program. [laughter] nobody could find him. now all of a sudden he's having to show up for the sunday talk show circuits and to make his voice be heard because people are wondering,

like, kirsten has said.n't even buy this argument that somehow the poor are being discriminated against. if you look at states like georgia and indiana, that require photo i.d., voting has actually increased in those states and it is even increases among minority voters. so i really think that we are at a point where this is a moot case, or or moot point or your average voter across america overwhelmingly according to a "rasmussen poll", about 75%, says of course you should have voter i.d. when you go to the polls. we should insure the integrity of elections in america. heather: so you both agree on that point. kirsten, what do you think, move it forward to texas because they will be under review. what do you think will happen with texas? is this a sign of things to come? >> i don't know what is going to happen but i would say in terms of the studies there are other studies show that it adversely impact african-americans and adversely impacts poor people. i think everybody can find the studies that they want

jon: so we're not picking delegates here, kirsten.ferences and picking what, media momentum? >> well, yeah they, their delegates are non-binding which means they don't have to vote exactly as the electorate voted. that doesn't mean they wouldn't but typically by the time you get to the convention, which is where the delegates cast their votes there is already a nominee. it is pretty much a foregone conclusion. if for some reason iowa didn't vote for the eventual nominee was they would throw their support behind them. if it was a brokered convention. it might matter. jon: case in point, mike huckabee won on the republican side last time around and all of the iowa republican delegates went for john mccain when the nominating convention rolled around. >> that is because huckabee wasn't in the race anymore. if it had become a brokered convention and huckabee stayed in and was still in play i think they would have probably gone with huckabee. i think by the time, the fact that they aren't bound to actually vote for the who the electorate v
