right now there are 33 organizations in the business and 35 different businesses that use the kitchen and 33 receive technical assistance and had 13 graduate to their own spaces. 100% are low income. 97% are women and immigrants and count english as a second language and when we decided what to do at la cocina is identify what are the barriers to the food industry? so if you have seen rat tutuie it's difficult to get into the industry and as comical the movie is it's a real thing. they're long grueling days. they're competitive and a lot is not about what you do but who you are and behave in a kitchen space. moving up through family restaurants is nearly impossible to do and through large industrial restaurants like the cheese cake factory has potential but there is limited opportunity so we are working with women who are talented cooks and start at the bottom of the restaurant and try to move up but are limited to the choices in front of them and how they act in the kitchen and how people perceive them to be. one example is veronica salazar and graduate and was cooking out of her hom

there are two categories for the home kitchens. one of them is for direct sales where people can only sell directly to the general public for themselves. for those types of facilities there will be no inspection from us we'll just know what types of food they're selling and their certifying their homes will save. and then we have others who are selling to gorgeous. we'll tell you do on annual inspection and actually permit them. and also the types of food they sell is limited you can only make those foods that are listed through the california department of human being health. so friends they can sell dried pastas and baked good days but not like meat pieces. things that don't need refrigeration. that is set by the california department of public health. anything else the department of public health will have to inspector that. there's a limit in the first year they can't sell more than $35,000 worth of goods. so i think that's about it. ok and my understanding is this new ordinance would allow a lot of small micro businesses to fl

this dining room when they moved it, it was a eat-in kitchen. that's not something that high society upper class person would do. mary grown up with a formal dining in lexington, kentucky. she felt she needed to have one here because she didn't want her children growing up without proper manners. in a lot of cases mr. lincoln -- all of her boys needed some polishing and manners. she created this dining room to have that formal space for she and her family but also for when he had guests over. there were a lot of different people that came to visit mr. lincoln during the campaign and after he was elected president, four betweens before the election and the inauguration. there were a lot of visitors coming to springfield. one of them was william steward who ended up being mr. lincoln's secretary of state. mary had trades of something that may be a slice of her famous white cake. you can get your refreshments in here. may be relax a little bit more after the formal side of meeting mr. lincoln. this is the double parlor and these are the two nicest

i bumped my head on the covered in the kitchen and i took it out with my fist. there is my kids and my wife. but in the hell was going on with dad? there is some cans all over the floor and splinters and my hands were bloody. we hadn't a clue. we haven't heard of ptsd. so they were frightened. my wife thought it was her fault. well with just a little bit of education we would have said he has got post-traumatic stress because he's been in the war. he's not angry at us. he just got surprised and took up the covered because he wasn't thinking as part of the deal we better get him some help in some medicine. it's not our fault. my wife now -- i still do it, the other day my daughter put the chain lock on the door and i opened the door like that. it surprised me. i hit the door a couple times. my wife says you didn't take your medicine today, did you?
