michele knight was left alone physically restrained in the dark basement overnight. during this interview michele knight described a pattern of being repeatedly sexually, physically and emotionally violated by ariel castro during her entire time of captivity. >> during this interview you're learning about the initial abduction as well as the crimes committed against her? >> that's correct. >> she was able to identify ariel castro as the perpetrator of those crimes? >> that's correct. >> what else did she tell you? >> during a subsequent -- excuse me. she stated that on the night they were rescued on may 6th, 2013, when the patrol officers entered the house she heard loud noises and she began to panic. she said that she heard somebody yelling police, police, police and the next thing she knew she had been rescued by the police. >> all right. did you have an opportunity to interview her subsequent to that initial interview you condoungtd may 6th? >> yes, i did. >> what did you learn? >> during subsequent interviews michele knight related she was pregnant on several occ

how similar is this what happened at knight?ere's a lot connection with knight capital and goldman. guess what, the days before this incident in both cases, knight and goldman, they changed systems. it was not tested full enough that they could be sure everything would work in practice b. on monday they made changes. they made changes the day before the implementation. it is definitely very clear. liz: in knight capital it really threatened the existence of that firm. they had to be bought out, and for a minute the whole thing could have gone under. is it an overstatement to venture something like that could happen at goldman sachs? 410,000,002 goldman sachs again not very much at all in the grand scheme of things. >> a company that makes $3 billion per quarter. the only made $3 million per quarter. a huge difference between these companies. for knight capital, $440 million was much more than the position they had the quarter before. they are expecting to lose around 80 million, so really i would say a rounding error. liz: talk

it was powerful to see michelle knight's steely resolve. if you asked me who i would have thought would have testified today, i wouldn't have said michelle knight from the beginning. she has the toughest recovery but yet today she faced her tormenter head on and she stayed there at the sentencing through the end of it. the family representatives for the other two victims left the courtroom, but michelle knight stayed there as ariel castro attempted to apologize and justify his behavior. so it was incredible to see that. even the judge pointed out her remarkable courage and in her soft spoken voice, she said, you're welcome. it was a light hearted moment in what was a very emotionally charged day. anderson? >> you can't attempt to apologize in one breath and the next breath justify your behavior and say this was consensual sex. joining us now former federal prosecutor jeffrey toobin, mark geragos, and dr. drew penske. mary ellen o'toole, did he act today like you would have expected from someone like him, someone who has done the things he's

knight. she was the first person that was abducted in this case. we then went to amanda berry, and then we went to gina dejesus. as it was formatted, we felt that it would be a lot easier to control the interview and gain the fact if we specifically talked about the incidents surrounding michelle, amanda and gina separately. ultimately, we did that. mr. castro admitted throughout the interview to us on each occasion how he took the girls. he indicated that he had extensive conversations with the girls surrounding the times that he did abduct them in his own words, he used the word "abduct." he referenced himself in the interview as a sexual predator. i asked him at that point what do you consider was a sexual predator is, and he said somebody that continually repeats offenses. he also, i asked him if-a wunsch -- if it was a one-time incident, how would he reference himself, he refer today that as a sexual afend or. >> did he use the phrase i'm a criminal? >> yes, he did. and to put that in co

ariel castro, a bus driver, living on the west side of cleveland, abducted michelle knight first. that was 11 years ago. michelle was just 21 years old when castro lured her into his house with the promise of a puppy. a puppy for her son. she went to his house and was held there as prisoner for more than a decade. during which police were not even looking for her. a missing persons report was filed, but they and some members of her family thought that she'd left home on her own volition. for 11 years, no one knew what had become of her. amanda berry was walking home from her job at burger king, in her uniform, when abducted by ariel castro. it was a day before her 17th birthday. a year later, gina dejesus, 14 years old, was kidnapped while walking the 40 blocks from her school to her house. castro apparently drove past his own daughter who needed a ride so that he could kidnap gina. he did so by saying that he needed her help in finding his daughter. the one that he'd just driven by. when the story of gina's disappearance made it into the news, castro's estranged son wrote an arti

you talk about michelle knight. it just reiterated how castro caused the death of her unborn child and went into more detail about that. but it also talked about how castro threatened them and made them feel powerless. one way he did that was by telling them that there were other victims before them, and according to this document from the prosecution's office, he told the victims some of the victims prior made it home and others did not indicating that other victims were killed. so this was his way of controlling the women and making them feel powerless. it talks about how he controlled their every movement through food and drink. in fact, it said they weren't allowed to use the bathroom on the first floor, that there was a plastic toilet in the rooms that was emptied infrequently. really disturbing details here. but it also talked about the courageousness of these women, how they kept a diary detailing the abuse they went through and talked about their dreams of making it home one day. of course, we now know that

amanda berry, gina dejesus and michelle knight were rescued in may. relatives for berry and dejesus spoke today in court. they said the women do not talk about what happened to them but michelle knight had something she wanted everybody to hear. in a statement before the court and on live television, she talked about how she missed her then 2-year-old son after her kidnapping and about how she and the others worked together to help one another and about the man who was single-handedly responsible for causing tremendous pain. >> i cried every night. i cried every night. i worried about what was happening to me and the other girls. >> days never got shorter. days turned into nights. nights turned into day. years turned into eternity. i knew nobody cared about me. he told me my family didn't care. tournament, even on holidays christmas was the most traumatic day because i never got to spend it with my son. anybody should ever have to go through what i went through or anybody else, not even the worstest enemy. gina was my teammate. she never let me fall,
